Curriculum Vitae: Dr. Moojan Momen

I was born in Iran in 1950. My mother who was widowed at the age of 19, migrated with me and my younger brother to England in 1955. I attended schools in Bournemouth and Taunton and eventually went to University of Cambridge studying natural and medical sciences. I graduated in 1971 and married at that time. I went on to complete my medical studies at Guy's Hospital, London, and qualified in 1974.

After five years of hospital medicine, I returned to Cambridge University and completed the and Islamic course. Since that time I have combined a career in medicine with research in the fields of Middle Eastern studies, , Iranian history, the study of religion and of the Baha'i Faith. I have published and lectured widely in these areas. I have also researched and published in the fields of genocide and social and economic development.

I am married to Wendi Momen and have two adult children and two grandchildren. My interests include human rights, social justice, community development and the advancement of women. I enjoy going to the theatre and walking. I also enjoy international travel having done four round-the-world trips, travelled along the Trans-Siberian Railway and undertaken a lecture tour in China. I have done voluntary research work at the Baha'i World Centre in Haifa, Israel, voluntary medical work in Tonga and voluntary community work in West Africa (mainly the Gambia).
