Armenian Catholic Parishes in Crimea --another look at LDS Microfilm 2065377 through digital images accessible on the website https://familysearch.org (This microfilm was previously indexed and published by the Odessa Digital Library - 28 May 2001. http://www.odessa3.org ) This microfilm provides baptism, marriage and death records recorded in the Armenian Catholic Parishes of Karasubazar, Feodosia and Eupatoria. There are duplicate entries found between the parishes. As well, some Simferopol records are included with the Karasubazar Parish records. It appears that “our” Roman Catholic families were getting married, or having children baptized, in Armenian Catholic churches. For example, I finally located the 1917 marriage record of my maternal grandparents, and the baptism records of their first two children (twins) among these records. Researchers of the Czech German families will also find many relevant records. This microfilm records thousands of church events for non-Germans as well – the ethnic Slavs including Poles, even some French, Italian and Spanish families. So it is a real challenge to scroll through these records one by one in order to pick out records which contain German surnames. This second look at LDS Microfilm 2065377 is an attempt to pick out records which were previously missed. Further it is an attempt to correct some surname errors and to improve the accuracy of the locations where births, marriages or deaths occurred. The Armenian Catholic Church is one of 23 Eastern Rite Catholic Churches which accept the supremacy of the Pope in Rome. While these churches follow their own rites and liturgies, they are considered “in full communion” with the Roman Catholic Church in Rome. This explains why some baptisms, marriages and deaths of “our” Roman Catholic German families in Crimea were recorded in Armenian Catholic churches. These records are organized according to the section of the microfilm in which they appear. The surnames are not in alphabetical order. Please use the “CTRL-F” function to search for surnames – this identifies also the females, godparents, and witnesses with the same surname. Index for page numbers and sections.
