Objectives: 1. Learn Coptic and pronunciation rules, 2. Learn some Biblical verses, and 3. Learn Lord Prayers.

Coptic Alphabet

Let’ review the we learned last year and learn a little bit more about the pronunciation.

• Now you have learned the 32 letters of the Coptic Alphabet. Note that the Alphabet has 24 consonants and 7 (a-e-h-i-o-u-w) and 1 letter used as a number ^.

Jinkem (̀)

It looks like an accent ̀ When placed over a consonant letter, it adds the sound e to the

letter, like ⲛ̀ sounds "en". If it is placed over a , it increases its duration and makes it as a separate vowel.
