New Year’s Message From American’s Regional Director, Marketing & Strategy-Pacific

American , bridging Asia and America

I am pleased to have this opportunity to wish all of our customers at American Airlines a very prosperous and healthy New Year.

We opened the New Year by sponsoring a classic Chinese play written by Tang Xianzu over 400 years ago called, ‘The Peony Pavilion’ performed as a modern dance drama for the first time outside China at one of the world’s premier dance venues, the David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center Plaza. Why talk about a dance drama sponsorship in New York?

American recognizes one of its roles as an is bringing peoples of the world together. Like air travel, the arts lift our spirits, broaden our horizons and give us fresh perspective on the world around us. Supporting arts and cultural exchange serves to build friendship and un- derstanding between countries and its peoples. ‘The Peony Pavilion,’ performed by the China Jinling Dance Company, preserves as much as it celebrates the artistry of Chinese dance to new audiences in the .

If you are going to the Big Apple, American offers convenient daily non-stop services from Tokyo – Narita and beginning this spring, from Tokyo – Haneda International Airport to JFK International Airport. From China, we operate daily one-stop services to New York via and Los Angeles.

In Japan, we’re excited about our partnership with Billboard Live, the only music venues in the world operating under the iconic Billboard magazine brand name. The two clubs in Tokyo and Osaka play host to many of the world’s finest artists and musicians to wildly appreciative audiences. Billboard Live is also where we first met bicultural Japanese pop singer ‘AI’ and American is now her Official Airline sponsor. AI most recently joined the legendary Jackson Family in a tribute to Michael Jackson with two sold out concerts at Yoyogi National Stadium.

In China, we return to sponsor of two major arts and cultural events. The Meet In Beijing Arts Festival is the biggest such festival in Asia, bringing performers and artists from around the world for a month of cultural exchange in May. And in Shanghai, one of the great entertainment capitals in the world, we are the Official Airline of the Shanghai Jazz Festival held over two fabulous weeks of mainstream and contemporary jazz in October.

Finally, 2012 is a significant year in our 80 plus year history because it marks the 25th anniversary of service between Asia and United States that began with a single daily flight between Tokyo, Japan and - Fort Worth, . For a quarter of a century now, we’ve been bridging Asia and the United States and from there, to destinations around the globe. We are proud of achieving this mile- stone and express our deep gratitude for your loyalty and support of our business and hope to have your continued support in 2012.

From all of us at American, Happy New Year and we look forward to serving you onboard one of our flights very soon.

Sincerely,

Wesley Stockstill Director, Marketing & Strategy - Pacific American Airlines January 2012
