Adventurebug has been active in the Educational Market since 2000 – amounting to over 20 years’ experience designing and leading school trips of all disciplines – from Spanish wide tours to community service programs in the Rif and Atlas Mountains of Morocco. We have a history of delivering safe, quality filled programs that teachers, pupils and parents enjoy and find great value.

Our tailor-made school excursions are journeys of discovery and adventure designed to bring the best out of the pupils and the school community as a whole. The underlying themes focus on cultural understanding and appreciation; challenge by choice, teamwork, socio-emotional development and of course the excitement of travel and self-discovery.

Another feature is the focus on ‘self awareness’ topics (ecological and social) and community awareness issues that could gap primary into secondary of all international curriculums. Overall, we aim to balance our excursions with culture, sciences, history, artistic and socio-emotional activities. As a result, participants’ return with a higher sense of self-awareness, greater confidence and positive memories to last a lifetime.

We must add that the presence of teachers on the trips positively enhances the experience and breaks down teacher / learner stereotypes. Without the presence of the teaching team, these excursions would have significant less impact. We value the participation of the teaching team on our programs.

PRE-TRAVEL research and investigations – We always encourage year groups to do some research prior to embarking on our excursions as this makes their trips more meaningful. Most information can be found online and we´ve added web links in the TEACHER PACKS to assist you.

THE EXCURSION Our school excursions are tailor-made and suited to the curricular needs, age and development levels of the pupils. Activities and visits are FULLY GUIDED by Adventurebug leaders and activity team (if there´s an outdoor pursuits focus). Our services include 24 hour supervision assistance and on-going coordination of all logistics – therefore, your school administration and teaching team will not spend a minute of their time on trip planning!

Our programs are 100% all inclusive - including IVA, gestation fees, local permits and service charges. Insurance (Asistencia en Viaje and Responsibility Civil) is fully provided per participant and teaching staff. A RISK ASSESSMENT and Emergency Safety Protocol specific to each trip will also be provided.

About our School Excursions

ALL INCLUSIVENESS

We look after every aspect of your group’s tour. We set out to make your life easy as we handle all bookings, logistics, route planning, meals, lodgings, activities, etc. Our experience as teachers and Adventure Leaders has taught us to provide a package that ÍNCLUDES EVERYTHING. In the course of delivering your program we will come to the school and meet the children, staff and parents in orientation sessions. You will also get information from us with the itinerary, what to bring, what to expect and how to prepare yourself and the children for the experience.

GUIDES AND MONITORS Adventurebug’s team will personally manage all trips. Their role is to oversee the logistics of the trip; the flow of activities and to ensure everything is in place. They will also coordinate evening programs and ensure the children have a balanced ratio between activity / rest / social time. Where required, Adventurebug hires local (licensed), Spanish guiding firms to assist with the delivery of their specialized activities.

TEACHING STAFF VOLUNTEERS Adventurebug is highly indebted to the teacher volunteers on our trips. Teachers play a crucial role in the pastoral / disciplinary care of the children as well as being the drive behind time keeping and ensuring children are prepared for activities. Provisions are made for teachers to participate equally amongst the children and we encourage you to get stuck into everything as this leaves a positive impression on your pupils!

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS All lodgings (Bungalows of Camping Paloma), are licensed, insured and meet Government safety standards and fire regulations. They are purpose built with en-suite bathrooms and bungalows are gender separated. There is 24-hour

security in the facility, which is also gated and Adventurebug and the teachers see that safety and security needs are met. The children are never left alone nor left to stay in bungalows alone or far from the supervisor’s rooms. The swimming pool is used ONLY under our supervision and after hours it is locked. Meals are nourishing and prepared for the activities in mind. Our facility has open air spaces, games areas and sport facilities on site.

SAFETY EMERGENCY PROCEDURES The information below is to assist teacher leaders and monitors with managing risk and potential hazards on our trips. It also offers practical advice in the event of emergencies and provides a resource base of contact numbers to rescue personal. In the event of any emergency it’s important to stay calm, get all the facts and be sure that you and the other children are safe and accounted for.

Recommendations for Safe Practice on School Adventure Trips: 1. Ensure a FIRST AID kit is carried on all days (Adventurebug will always have one) 2. Teachers and Activity Monitors set safety boundaries for children and give warning to any possible hazards including weather patterns, terrain, wildlife, road hazards, public areas and any items of nature that could be a danger. 3. Communication system in place between groups and their supervising leaders and teachers – exchange mobile phone numbers and have a central meeting point each day that everybody is familiar with. 4. Always watch out for one’s personal safety in areas of outdoor pursuits and double check on fellow peers when doing activities. 5. Keep within boundaries and respect monitor’s judgement and authority. 6. Ensure that an escape route / plan is in place and / or provisions for repatriating an injured or sick from an activity site. 7. Respect all safety equipment and installations.

In the event of any accident or serious illness scenario: If working with the Adventurebug monitors on activities – tell them what has happened and they will launch their own emergency procedures.
