Transfer to hotel, day at leisure. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner at your hotel this evening. Hotel Bristol Friday, May 16 Oslo – Eidsvoll B, L Breakfast at the hotel. Depart by private motor coach to Eidsvoll. Enjoy a private presentation of Eidsvollbygningen by Historian Torleif Hamre. Afterward, enjoy a private tour of the newly restored building. Lunch included today. This afternoon, there will be some free time before returning to Oslo. Dinner on own, overnight in Oslo. Hotel Bristol Saturday, May 17 Syttende Mai – Eidsvoll B, L Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the Children’s Parade in the Oslo’s city center, which takes place at 11am. Depart after the parade by private motor coach to Eidsvoll. Enjoy a late lunch en route. Your group will have seating at the Syttende Mai Ceremony taking place at 4:00 pm. Enjoy the festivities, speeches, and more! The Royal Family will be in attendance. Late return to Oslo. Hotel Bristol Sunday, May 18 Oslo B Breakfast at the hotel. Tour Oslo with your guide today, with an afternoon visit to the Folk Museum to see the first Storting building. Hotel Bristol Monday, May 19 Oslo – Toten – Kongsvold B, L, D Breakfast at the hotel. Depart by motor coach for Toten to visit the Weidemann farm. Continue north, photo stop in Ringebu at Ringebu stave church. Lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight at the historic Kongsvold Fjellstue. Tuesday, May 20 Kongsvold – Trondheim B, D Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to the Trondheim area. Late morning farm visit in Bratsberg. Afternoon sightseeing in Trondheim including Nidaros Cathedral (at left), dinner on own. Dinner and overnight at Brittania Hotel Wednesday, May 21 Trondheim – Sogndal B, D Breakfast at the hotel. Drive through the mountains and valleys, passing the Jotunheimen mountain range. Photo stop in Lom at the Lom stave church (at right), as well as on the Sognefjell mountain road, with awesome views of the mountains in many directions. Dinner and overnight at Quality Hotel Sogndal Thursday, May 22 Sogndal B, D Breakfast at the hotel. Today will be spent in Sogndal. Visit the monument in Sogndal, Stedje Church, Loftesnes farm. Dinner and overnight at Quality Hotel Sogndal Friday, May 23 Sogndal – Lofthus B, D Breakfast at the hotel. Begin with a fjord cruise on the Sognefjord from Leikanger to the fjord village of Flåm. There is time here to look around before boarding the famous Flåm railway (photo below). Ascend the mountain, with stunning views of the valley, arriving in Myrdal. Here, change trains and travel to Voss. Your motor coach will be waiting for you here. Continue by coach to Lofthus and the lovely Hotel Ullensvang, situated on the shore of the Hardangerfjord. Smørgåsbord dinner, overnight in fjord view rooms. Hotel Ullensvang (view from hotel below) Saturday, May 24 Lofthus – Dalen, Telemark B, D Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Depart by motor coach and drive along the Hardangerfjord, continuing into Setesdal. Farm visit near town of Hovden. Continue to Dalen for dinner and overnight at the historic Dalen Hotel (photo below). Sunday, May 25 Dalen – Tønsberg B, D Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the history of this special hotel. Depart by motor coach and drive to Moland for a farm visit. Continue toward Larvik, and visit one farm in the Larvik area, followed by one near Tønsberg. Overnight at Quality Hotel Tønsberg Monday, May 26 Tønsberg – to Oslo B, D Breakfast at the hotel. Possible to visit Tønsberg farm this morning, or morning at leisure. This afternoon, drive to Oslo area, Farewell Dinner and overnight at Clarion Hotel Oslo Airport. Tuesday, May 27 Depart Oslo B Various departure times today, depending on airline. Transfers to airport. Estimated cost per person $4989.00 double occupancy $ 704 single supplement Estimated cost includes: Roundtrip, economy class airfare on Icelandair from Minneapolis* including taxes and airline- imposed fuel surcharges of $489 (as of May 17, 2013). (*Airfare from other cities, on other airlines, will be calculated once we have an indication from where participants will depart) Twelve nights’ accommodation at specified hotels or similar. Fjord view rooms at Hotel Ullensvang. Breakfast daily (B), 3 lunches and 9 dinners (buffet or 3-course) as indicated in itinerary (L, D). Private motor coach transportation based on the itinerary – local services in Oslo and to/from Eidsvoll, and from May 19 – 26, including drivers’ accommodations and expenses. Private arrangement at Eidsvollsbygningen on May 16, including presentation by Torleif Hamre, and private guided tour of Eidsvollsbygningen. Attendance in seating area at Syttende Mai celebration at Eidsvollsbygningen. Oslo and Trondheim city tours. Sognefjord cruise and the Flåm Railway. Services of a tour guide from arrival Oslo until departure Oslo. Tour documentation packet including destination information, luggage tags and travel journal. The price is estimated based on the itinerary at a combination of 2013 and 2014 prices, and will be finalized once all prices from suppliers have been received and arrangements (such as hotel, motor coach and flights) are confirmed. Air reservations cannot be booked until 11 months from the travel date, so these can be booked on June 1, 2013. At that point, we will secure a number of group seats on Icelandair from Minneapolis, as well as other airlines from other cities as needed to accommodate tour participants. We will obtain that information from the Trip Pre-registrations. Norway is only now organizing activities and events in connection with the 2014 Celebration. It is possible that in the next several months, we’ll have opportunities to add visits, tours, etc, to the itinerary, and Borton Overseas will do everything possible to make these arrangements. .
