Montreal (February 21, 2018) – Today, WE Day, a powerful day of inspiration, brings together compelling speakers, dynamic performers and innovative thought leaders including Abby and Sarah, Celebrity Marauders, Lisa Charleyboy, Kayla Diamond, David Patchell-Evans, Shawn Hook, Carol Todd, Alexandre Trudeau, Tyson Venegas, Sarah Wells, Spencer West, and more. WE Day Montreal is co-hosted by reporter for CTV’s Etalk and E! Host, Chloe Wilde and Canadian TV host of Face au mur and Maripier!, Maripier Morin along with youth co-hosts Hannah Alper and Tai Young. Alongside international activist and WE co-founder, Craig Kielburger, the cast of returning WE Day favourites and new faces join over 2,000 students and educators at Théâtre Saint-Denis to celebrate the positive impact and contributions young people have made to the world.

Together with partners led by National Co-Title Sponsors RBC and TELUS, WE Day Montreal will host over 195 schools from across . More than a one-day event, WE Day is connected to the free, yearlong educational program WE Schools. Providing schools and community groups with curriculum, educational resources and service-based learning campaigns, the program is designed to enhance a school’s existing social initiatives and spark new ones. WE Schools encourages students to further their curricular learning and develop life skills for success beyond the classroom. In the 2016/2017 school year, schools and groups across Quebec improved their communities through WE Schools, volunteering more than 145,000 hours and raising over $720,000 in support of more than 195 local and global causes including hunger, poverty, environment and bullying.

Speakers and performers at WE Day Montreal will energize the crowd through a day full of powerful speeches, inspirational moments and empowering performances. A few must-see highlights include:

• Filmmaker, journalist and author, Alexandre Trudeau, inspires the WE Day crowd with words of encouragement about the importance of showing kindness and compassion for one another

• Multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer, Karl Wolf, lights up the stage with a performance of ‘Yalla Habibi’ and ‘Africa’

• Storyteller and News Reporter at City News Winnipeg, Lisa Charleyboy, speaks about her journey toward embracing her heritage and the importance of being proud of who you are and where you come from

“Today we celebrate over 78,000 students engaged in the WE generation—young leaders from across Quebec who have committed to creating change at home and around the world,” said Craig Kielburger, co-founder of WE. “Together these students and their incredible teachers have supported over 195 local and global organizations, impacting countless lives just this year alone. WE Day Montreal celebrates their world-changing achievements, while empowering youth to continue working together towards building positive change.”

WE Day—the world’s largest youth empowerment event—is free of charge to students and educators across Canada, thanks to the generous support of partners led by National Co-Title Sponsors RBC and TELUS. Students can’t buy a ticket to WE Day—youth from across the country earn their way by the actions they take towards one local and one global cause of their choice.
