After the highs of the match it was always going to be difficult coming back down to earth with a tricky match against Rothes. How pleased were you with how the players applied themselves in what turned out to be a comfortable win?

Historically, teams who have put in so much effort and been praised from all angles after a game, have tended to drop their standards in the next match. This is mostly down to their mindset. I emphasised to the players that we cannot let this happen and I told them that we must kick on from here and get our season back on track. Thankfully the guys did that, however I thought it was going to be one of those nights as we missed several chances before we finally broke the deadlock. Rothes set their marker very early. They tried to slow the game down as much as possible and had every man behind the ball so it was a case of us moving the ball quickly to create that chance. Once we did get the first goal, Rothes had to come out more, which in turn gave us more space to exploit. We did that and went on to score six more and like you say, won comfortably. After Michael has always been a player who I have admired. We played the game I had a wee go at the players for being too slow with the Maud in a pre-season friendly this year and Mikey ran the midfield. ball. I felt we could have moved the ball quicker, and also get the This was impressive as our midfielders that day were Dean Cowie and game started quicker after the ball went out of play. We can not Jamie Masson, yet Mikey controlled the game. I look for certain afford to take our foot of the pedal and stop playing as if we do this attributes in each position and as a midfielder, Mikey ticks a lot of then we will get lazy and that can transfer in to the next game. We the boxes. He is very energetic and has a great desire. This is what have to set standards and make sure we strive to maintain these midfielders need and I know this as much as anyone. He feels like he standards at all times. I have told the guys that the day I stop getting has a point to prove so he is even more determined to do well and I on at them is the day that I can no longer offer them anything as a have no doubt he will be a fans favourite going forward. To be coach. I always want to get better and we as a team can do that. honest, he has settled in to Fraserburgh life better than I expected and from what I have seen so far, he is better than what I realised. The match at Buckie Thistle last week was marred by the injury to Hopefully he goes on to be a success which he deserves to get as he young Joe Barbour at the end but the guys rolled their sleeves up is a great lad. I must say the very best of luck to Grant Thomson who and rescued a point. How impressed were you with the overall went to Maud as part of the deal. Grant has maybe been unlucky performance and determination to get something from the match? with his Fraserburgh career where we have a lot of similar players

who can play in his position, so he probably didn't get the game time I think, bearing in mind of the conditions, as a team we played very he wanted. He has been at Maud on loan and has been doing well so well. I think we dominated the game from start to finish and not a hopefully this continues going forward. Also thanks to Maud FC for lot of teams can say this about playing Buckie away. They had 3 shots the way they handled the transfer. It can never be easy losing your on goal the whole game, scoring 2, where as we had several chances captain but they saw that Michael wanted another crack at Highland to score. We even had around 14 corners in the first half alone. League so they co-operated with us to make this happen. Saying this, I was a little disappointed with our attempts on goal. For all the chances we did create, we only scored 2 and I feel that we as Today sees another tough match against Keith with the added a team need to start doing better in front of goal. I have had words spice of former players Allan Hale and Gavin Wemyss as their with my strikers and told them what I expect from them, but management team. What are you expecting from today's game. everyone is missing chances so this is certainly something which we are going to be working on. I can not be too hard on the guys as like I I expect today's game to be closely fought and a tight game. say we dominated the game. We made two errors for the first goal Although we are above them in the league, we know Keith have and an error for the third goal which cost us the 3 points which in my threats which they will look to if they are to get one over us today. view would have been deserved. Joe took a knock during the run up They have in my opinion, one of the best strikers in the league in to their second goal. We all thought he was disappointed that he Mikey Ewen. He has the ability to win games on his own and when he didn't keep it out so no one really paid any attention to him for a is in the mood ,then he will cause problems to any defence. I have start. We then realised that he wasn't getting up so quickly reacted played with Mikey so know what he is about, so I know that we need and got round him to help him. It appears that he collided with the to keep him quiet today if we are going to get anything from it. For Buckie attacker and was knocked out for a spell. Ross (our physio) many years Keith have been a very good side and have challenged on managed to get him back round and after a confused minute or two, all fronts. Recently they have fallen away from the top end of the he realised where he was and what time it was etc so he did not league so I am sure this is something Allan will look to change. I have suffer from any memory loss. The next thing you think is of his neck no doubt that given time, Allan will be a great appointment. He or back but thankfully he was checked out by our physio and the stopped playing early as he had the desire to be manager which must paramedics and after a scary spell, it was pleasing to see him walk be commended as this job is anything but easy. He did a remarkable off the park as this settled any concerns we had surrounding his back job at Maud taking them to a second place finish last season but he and neck. Joe has not trained this week so will sit out the game but has always made known of his desire to step up. He has been he will be back in contention for our next game which is good so knocked back in the past by clubs who were unwilling to take the thankfully he is alright again. We must thank the Buckie staff for chance, but this was probably to his advantage as it likely made him their help during the injury to Joe. Their physio was on tending to stronger and more determined to be successful. We as a club always him along with Ross and their stewards/committee quickly called the wish for the best for anyone who has been connected with the club ambulance and made sure the access was clear. They took some stick in one way or another so this will be the same to Allan and Gavin. We for announcing the raffle draw whilst Joe was lying been seen to but wish them all the best in their roles but of course not when they face now that we know Joe is fine, I think we can look back at this with us. humour and laugh at it. Keith FC player profiles DAVID DEY – 17 year old David is an outstandingmatch goalkeeping prospect reportswho has come through the Club’s youth system. He made 20 first team appearances last season, and he will be eager to add to that this season.

DANIEL BELL – Experienced goalkeeper signed from Buckie Thistle in August 2014. Was injured for a spell last season, but he is back fully fit again. Dominates the penalty area and is an excellent shot stopper.

BRUCE MILNE – Local lad Bruce had seen service with Forres Mechanics and Clach before joining the Maroons two years ago. An experienced defender, he was moved forward into midfield to good effect during the course of last season.

STEWART HUTCHEON – Tough tackling defender Stewart is the captain, now into his fourth year in the first team. Has good pace, and likes to forage upfield when required

STUART MASSIE – Winger/midfielder Stuart signed from Rothes two summers ago and settled in well. His experience is standing him in good stead, and is a handy player to have in the squad. An eye for a goal, he grabbed eight goals last season, got off the mark in the first game of this season at Rothes.

MATTY MC DONALD – Strong running centre forward who was on loan from Formartine United before signing a permanent contract. Notched four goals last season after grabbing eight goals the previous season.

MICHAEL EWEN – A massive signing for the Club last summer, local lad Michael joined from Formartine , and is a proven goalscorer whose pace and eye for a goal mark him out as one of the top strikers in the league. Top scorer last season with 11 goals, he netted twice in the opening fixture at Rothes.

CRAIG CORMACK – Local lad Craig was signed from Islavale late December 2013 after good reports. He has shown his skills on several occasions, and is a worthy addition to the squad, making 28 appearances last season scoring five goals. Grabbed a fine goal in the league opener at Rothes.

SCOTT WHELAN – Can play in defence or midfield, signed from Ellon United nearly two years ago. Has previous Highland league experience and settled quickly at Kynoch Park. Has proved to be a useful signing.

MICHAEL RALTON – Central defender captured from Dyce juniors a couple of years ago, has Highland League experience with Turriff, and his strength and skill at the heart of the defence should be significant. A good talker he makes his presence felt, and never gives up.

GREG SMITH – Another of Keith’s growing list of young players, defender Greg came through the youth ranks, and is now a regular first teamer. A gritty wee performer with oodles of heart and great skills.

HAMISH RITCHIE – A highly skilled midfielder who has come through the youth system, yet another promising teenager. He of course has a Kynoch Park pedigree – his great grandfather Jock Whitecross played for the Maroons in the 1920’s and early 1930’s! Plagued with injury last season he now seems to have settled into the squad

RYAN STEWART – Striker Ryan was signed as part of the deal that saw Murray Kinnaird join Cove Rangers. His pedigree is second to none, being a son of goalscoring ace Iain”Sooty” Stewart, who scored so many goals for Lossiemouth and Caley Thistle a few years ago.

AARON SCULLY – Young defender signed a contract after being on loan from Cove Rangers. Made his debut against Clach last season, and is a useful addition to the squad.

FINLAY STABLES – Acquisition signed last December from Lossiemouth, the midfielder could be a key figure in the engine room for Keith. Is the son of course of former Keith assistant manager Jim Stables.

GRANT MITCHELL – Tall strong central defender signed from Lossiemouth earlier in 2015. Made his debut at Cove in the Highland League Cup last season and didn’t look out of place in the heart of the defence. Has set up a good partnership with Michael Dunn.

MICHAEL DUNN – Signed earlier this year from Rothes, Michael is a tall defender with plenty of experience. Made his debut against Huntly in a derby match, and seemed to fit in right away. Great will to win, driving on from the back, and has been a key figure in tightening up the defence.

KRIS DUNCAN - A summer recruit from Forres Mechanics, “Baker” was previously with Deveronvale and Rothes, and is a wee buzz bomb who never gives defences a minute’s peace. Brings other players into action with his style, and is good for a few goals as well.

SCOTT JOHNSTON – Keith based striker Scott was a summer signing from Dufftown. He is a powerful centre forward with an eye for a goal, and has a Maroons pedigree in the shape of his grandad Charlie Johnston who was the Club’s top scorer in 1967-68.

KYLE COOPER – One of no fewer than eight players from Keith and surrounding area in the first team squad, Kyle is a tough tackling defender who hasn’t figured too much yet, but is eager to be involved.

SAM PUGH - Signed on loan from Inverurie locos.

RYAN SPINK - Signed on loan from Cove Rangers.
