Attachment 2 – EPBC Act-listed species

The results from the EPBC Protected Matters Search Tool (PMST), conducted in October 2016 for the proposed survey area (Commonwealth and Victorian waters), are provided in Table 2.1 . An additional search was performed on 19 September 2017 for the state waters portion of the proposed survey area, with no difference in the species listed. In summary, there are: • 39 fish species (31 of which are , seahorses and seadragons); • 30 cetacean species (23 whales and seven dolphins); • 2 pinniped species (fur-seals); • 5 turtle species; and • 71 bird species (the majority of these are listed as migratory and marine species, with 37 listed as threatened).

A description of these species is provided in Attachment 5 . The PMST identifies several terrestrial species as occurring within the proposed survey area (due to the minimum required 1 km buffer on the search area). These species are not listed in Table 2.1 as they have no marine habitat requirements. This list includes: • Eight terrestrial mammals; • Four frogs; and • Five plant species.
