MCMASTER UNIVERSITY, Hamilton, Ontario, January, 2017 – April, 2018 CMST 3II3 – Communication and the Politics of Intellectual Property • Delivered weekly lectures on copyright, patent, and trademark law. • Compared legal arguments to everyday user experiences using active learning exercises, including brainstorming, role playing, and debate activities. • Invited Natasha Tusikov to discuss her new book: Chokepoints: Global Private Regulation on the Internet. • Ran a workshop on conducting legal research using websites and databases

WILFRID LAURIER UNIVERSITY, , Ontario, September, 2016 – April, 2018 ENG 381 – Gaming and Narrative Theory • Delivered weekly lectures on the history, theory, and culture of interactive storytelling. • Created a critical audiovisual essay assignment in which students use screen capture software to record and reflect on their game playing experiences. • Ran a workshop on methodological approaches to game criticism.

MCMASTER UNIVERSITY, Hamilton, Ontario, January, 2016 – April, 2018 MEDIA 3K03 – Digital Games • Delivered weekly lectures on key concepts in game studies. • Conducted a series of Twine workshops that taught students how to make hypertext games using free open source software. • Designed a midterm examination, a final essay, and audiovisual essay assignments. • Invited Navnnet Randhawa to lecture on the rise E-sports and her experiences covering professional gaming tournaments.

RYERSON UNIVERSITY, Toronto, Ontario, September, 2016 – January, 2018 NPF 566 – History of Animation • Delivered weekly lectures on the the first 100 years of animation. • Invited Sagan Yee to discuss her experiences working as an animator producing content for television and video games. • Took the class to see Tina Nawrocki, a 2d Animator & Concept Artist, describe her experiences working as an animator on Cuphead (Studio MDHR Entertainment, 2017).

MCMASTER UNIVERSITY, Hamilton, Ontario, September, 2016 – January, 2017 CMST 2LW3 – Communication Policy and Law • Delivered weekly lectures examining the role of government policy, regulation, and law on the structure and functioning of the mass media. • Taught students how to research law and policy by submitting access to information requests and consulting judicial decisions and legislation. • Created an online debate assignment that connected current events to a range of communication policy issues. OCAD UNIVERSITY, Toronto, Ontario, January, 2016 – May, 2016 DIGF 6019 – Digital Theory • Directed weekly seminars designed to provide MA and MFA students with a survey of key issues in contemporary digital theory. • Co-created an updated course pack that includes book chapters and articles. • Graded presentations, annotated bibliographies, and final essays. • Helped students with thesis projects and major research papers by suggesting additional readings.

RYERSON UNIVERSITY, Toronto, Ontario, January, 2013 – April, 2013 SOC 202 – Popular Culture • Delivered weekly lectures that examined the politics of popular culture, specifically focusing on stereotypes, ideologies, resistance, and active audience activities. • Developed an assignment requiring students to analyze the stereotypes found in a clip from Legally Blonde (2001). • Provided a special lecture on using signal phrases and parsed quotations to smoothly integrate secondary sources into scholarly writing.
