McMASTER STUDENTS UNION INCORPORATED TAKE NOTICE that there will be a meeting of McMASTER STUDENTS UNION INCORPORATED (the Corporation) on Sunday November 29, 2009, at 6:30 p.m., local time, for the following purposes. 1. To approve the amendments to the Agreement between the McMaster Students Union and the Mohawk Students Association. 2. Moved by Richardson, seconded by Tenenbaum to approve the amendments to the Agreement between the McMaster Students Union and the Mohawk Students Association as presented and attached. AGREEMENT between the McMaster Students Union and the Mohawk Students’ Association 1.0 INTRODUCTION Whereas the McMaster Students Union operates several student services and operations at the McMaster University campus in Hamilton and Mohawk Students’ Association operates several student services and operations at the Mohawk College campus in Hamilton; Whereas students of Mohawk College will be attending classes at the McMaster University campus and students of McMaster University will be attending classes at Mohawk college campus ; Whereas the Mohawk Students’ Association wishes to contract the McMaster Students Union to provide certain services for the aforementioned students and the McMaster Students Union wishes to contract the Mohawk Students’ Association to provide certain services for the aforementioned students; Herein contained are the terms and conditions on which the McMaster Students Union and Mohawk Students’ Association agree. 2.0 DEFINITIONS “MSU” shall refer to the McMaster Students Union. “MSA” shall refer to the Mohawk Students’ Association. “IAHS students” shall refer to members of the Mohawk Students’ Association who, as required by their course of studies, make use of the Institute for Applied Health Sciences at the McMaster University campus. This shall include students enrolled in the BScN Collaborative Nursing program and Medical Radiation Sciences program. “Fennell students” shall refer to members of the McMaster Students Union who, as required by their course of studies, make use of the Mohawk College Fennell campus. This shall include students enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology program while the delivery of the program is at the Fennell campus. “BTech” shall refer to McMaster Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology program who attend the Fennell Campus of Mohawk College who have access to MSA services before the completion of the McMaster Innovation Park (MIP). It is understood once MIP is completed the BTech program will move to this location. The students would then be McMaster students attending a McMaster campus at which point they would be excluded from this agreement. “BSCN” shall refer to Mohawk Students in the Bachelor of Nursing program who attend the IAHS building at McMaster who have access to MSU services “MRAD” shall refer to McMaster Students in the Medical Radiation Science program who take courses in the IAHS building at McMaster University. They are present in the building aprox. 50% of the time. 3.0 PROVISION OF SERVICES 3.1 The McMaster Students Union shall allow IAHS students to make use of the following services in the same capacity as MSU members, notwithstanding the exceptions listed in section 3.3: Campus Events CFMU 93.3 FM Radio Child Care Centre CLAY (Creating Leadership Among Youth) Clubs Compass Information Centre Diversity Services Emergency First Response Team (EFRT) First Year Council Fundraising Initiatives Team Horizons Conference House of Games MAC Bread Bin MACycle Co-op MACgreen Marmor Maroons Society Ombuds Office Poster and Advertising Committee (PAC) Queer Students Community Centre (QSCC) Shortstop Silhouette, The Student Community Support Network (SCSN) Student Health Education Centre (SHEC) Student Walk Home Attendant Team (SWHAT) 1280 (Twelve Eighty) Restaurant and Bar Underground Media & Design Centre Union Market 3.2 Furthermore, IAHS students shall: Be eligible to volunteer with, and participate in the initiatives of, MSU clubs and services; Be eligible for employment opportunities within the MSU, except for those which are elected, and with priority being given to MSU members; Be treated as McMaster University graduate students for the purpose of establishing priority for the MSU Child Care Centre. 3.3 IAHS students shall not: Be classified as MSU members; Be included in the MSU Health Plan or the MSU Dental Plan, with any erroneous charges made by McMaster University to be refunded; Receive the Marmor yearbook upon graduation; Be eligible to receive any MSU awards; Be included in the contract between the MSU and the Hamilton Street Railway Company pertaining to the annual bus pass. 3.4 The Mohawk Students’ Association shall allow Fennell students to make use of the following services in the same capacity as MSA members, notwithstanding the exceptions listed in section 3.6: Arnie and Cellar Campus Den Campus Entertainment C101.5 FM Radio Clubs Common Hour Entertainment Concerts and Pubs Debt and Credit Counseling Equipment Loans Food Services at Fennell Legal Counseling Lifetouch Canada Grad Photos MSA Food Bank Satellite, The Spring Break Trips Used Book Sale Consignment Service 3.5 Furthermore, Fennell students shall be eligible to volunteer with, and participate in the initiatives of, MSA clubs and services. 3.6 Fennell students shall not: Be classified as MSA members; Have access to emergency loans; Be included in the MSA Health Plan; Be eligible to receive any MSA awards or scholarships; Be included in the contract between the MSA and the Hamilton Street Railway Company pertaining to the annual bus pass. 3.7 The MSA and MSU shall provide each other with up-to-date lists of services and operations no later than June 1 of each year, for the purpose of amending the lists above. 3.8 Any omissions to the lists above shall be referred to the MSA Board of Directors and MSU Board of Directors for clarification and ruling of this agreement. 4.0 REPRESENTATION 4.1 IAHS students shall not be permitted to hold any elected positions within the MSU, nor shall they be permitted to vote in any MSU election or referendum. 4.2 Fennell students shall not be permitted to hold any elected positions within the MSA, nor shall they be permitted to vote in any MSA election or referendum. 4.3 Each student shall be entitled to political representation from the student government to which he or she has remitted fees. 5.0 FEE ARRANGEMENT 5.1 The MSA shall remit to the MSU, no later than April 1 of each year: $20.00 per student enrolled in the BScN Collaborative Nursing program; $7.00 per student enrolled in the Medical Radiation Sciences program. 5.2 The MSU shall remit to the MSA, no later than April 1 of each year: $23.00 per student enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology program. 5.3 Enrollment numbers shall be provided by the Registrars of Mohawk College and McMaster University. 5.4 Any additional services provided by the MSU during the term of this agreement, for which there is no increase to the MSU student fee, shall be made available to IAHS students at no additional charge. 5.5 Any additional services provided by the MSA during the term of this agreement, for which there is no increase to the MSA student fee, shall be made available to Fennell students at no additional charge. 6.0 TERMS OF AGREEMENT 6.1 This agreement, once approved by mutual consent, shall remain in effect. 6.2 This agreement may only be amended by mutual consent. 6.3 Termination of this agreement requires written notice served no later than April 1 of a given year, with termination to become effective on April 30. 7.0 AUTHORIZATION ____________________________________ ___________________ , MSU President Date ____________________________________ ___________________ , MSA President Date .
