CHRIST OUR SAVIOR PARISH MINUTES OF PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING Monday, September 17, 2018 @ SN

Attending: Father Martin, Jaclyn Blake, Joann Burgmyer, Ray Delost, Deacon John, Benita Fisher, Rosie Hollen, Betty McCullough, Jamie Miller, Marie Pavlicko & Bev Yurcisin. Excused: Doris Almasy, Allison Kovach & Stephen Mistovich

1. Welcome: Ray Delost, Council Chair, called the meeting to order. 2. Opening Prayer: Rosie Hollen led council in prayer. 3. Minutes: Deacon John, Benita Fisher moved & Council approved the June 4, 2018 minutes. 4. Parishioner Time: None at this time. The Sunday Bulletin will have a reminder to parishioners that they need to make an appointment to address Council with their concerns, questions, and/or suggestions. 5. Guest Speaker: None at this time. Committee chairs are asked to explore possible speakers to address Council. 6. Pastor’s Report: a. Roof at Tiny Tots – The new roof has been finished and waiting to put the siding on to complete the job. b. New Lights at Christ Our Savior Parish – There were some issues with the outside lights at SN. Some of the fixtures will have to be replaced. When St Nicholas is done, they will start replacing the lights at Holy Trinity and move on to the school. Everything will be much brighter. Father Martin is working within a 90 day limit to be eligible for the Rebate Program. c. Parish Office Renovations – The new floors have been completed for all areas except the bookkeepers’ office where new plastering needs to be completed. Renovations are also being completed in the bathroom. d. Security Cameras are being put in the Great Hall and St. Nick’s Parking Lot. 7. Calendar a. September 22 – Reverse Raffle (Cancelled) 300 clubs met from HT & SN and there was not enough time to plan for this year. Will re-evaluate this for the future. b. September 25 – Community Meal (SN) Hosted by the Mom’s & Dad’s Club. c. October 1 – Baby Bottle Campaign (Nurses) All are asked to be generous and supportive of this project. d. October 6 – Chicken & Ribs Dinner (SN) e. October 14 – Stuffed Cabbage Dinner (HT) f. October 20 – Oktoberfest (SN) Watch the bulletin for more information. Plan to Attend! g. Reports from different groups & committees: Deacon John  Bible Study Group begins on October 8th.  RCIA will start on October 9th – One candidate.  Baptisms – There are 5 baptisms planned and one tentative for Friday night, Dec 6th from out of town. Betty McCullough – School Principal.  Enrollment for this year is at 189 and there are two 4th grade classes.  The staff includes four men teachers this year.  Grades 1 & 2 will be going to the Pumpkin Farm.  Grades 3 – 5 will be going to see Treasure Island at the Playhouse.  7th & 8th Graders are planning a retreat at Walsh College.  Mom’s & Dad’s Club will host the annual Fall Craft Show on Saturday, September 29th.  Cash for Cans – please support this program – aluminum cans only - no plastic.  School Mass on Wednesday, September 26th.  Election Day Bake Sale – want to discontinue this but will look at some changes to keep it going.

Jamie Miller, DRE  CCD – There are about 112 children in our CCD program. Twenty four students will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Eucharist; and twenty four Confirmation Candidates who will be confirmed on March 23rd at the Cathedral. Music will continue to be a part of the program with plans to participate during mass or maybe a Christmas Program. We still need a 5th Grade teacher – contact us if you know of a dynamic person who may be interested.  Children’s Liturgy of the word – We are excited to have some new catechist working with the younger children who come down each week during the 10:45 a.m. mass. There are between 13-17 children in this group. New mass books for young parishioners have been purchased to help them follow along and understand the mass better.  Youth Ministry will have the month of September off so that the teens can get back into the swing of school. Plans for this group include a kick-off for the start of the new school year, a day to serve at St. Vincent De Paul and start a crayon drive to collect crayons for children’s hospital.  Every one working with the children/teens needs updated finger prints within 5 years and need to attend a class to update their skills. Spiritual Life – Jaclyn Blake, Chair  Jaclyn is exploring various ways to help Parishioners become more active in their spiritual lives within the parish setting. Sunday October 28th is Priesthood Sunday and she will be looking at doing some special things for our Parish Priest, Father Martin. Please support her and take an active role in doing your part. Social Concerns – Joann Burgmyer, Chair  Joann works closely with the Nurses and St Vincent De Paul Society. The Coat Drive – Oct. 20-21 & the Food & Hoodie Drive on Nov 17-18 are priority projects for the group. Please be generous in your giving!  The Pantry Shelves are “always” in need of food. Thanks for all who give and continue to donate to this cause.  Thanksgiving Food drive is November 20th.  December Food Give-a-way is to be determined and will be coordinated with the Nurses’ “Giving Tree.” Parish Life – Rosie Hollen, Chair  Rosie’s goal is to have all organizations working together toward the same goals.

9. New Items a. Parish Bingo – Tony has stepped down so we are looking for a new leader. Bingo is a Parish Event! b. Committee membership – Try to build your committee membership. Strategize to get a committee that you can work with. c. Needs of the Parish – Need to reach out to the young people and the homebound. 10. Comments & Concerns: Ray is asking council to look at “what are the needs,” find a starting point, and move forward. Don’t forget to consult the By-Laws! 11.
