By Migliore + Servetto Architects ABSOLUTE LIGHTNESS THE CONCEPT Curated by Migliore+Servetto Architects, the exhibit showcases architectural finishes presented by exhibitors in an entirely novel and interactive setting. “Absolute Lightness” looks at how exhibitors apply the concept of lightness to their products. Lightness has always been one of the mainstays of architecture: lightness drives sustainability, shapes interactions with other materials, and determines the overarching relationship with light itself. The exhibition stretches literally and figuratively over three narrative levels: one jutting into the wide central promenade, where long white table invite visitors to explore contents and products also using an interactive App designed especially for this journey of discovery. On an intermediate level, behind huge reflecting surfaces that expand space into new dimensions, appears a visually striking tale of lightness through quotes, targeted product images and illustrations. On the upper level, a complex system of dynamic projections and lighting hover over the tables. Emphasising the significance of transitions, the aisles between the tables are highlighted by huge circular projection planes hanging from the ceiling and thin lines of light. The projections explore the concept of lightness from different perspectives: lightness in light, nature, Utopian architectures and in relation to other elements, imbuing the journey of discovery into materials and products with insights and implications. CONVERSAZIONI DI ARCHITETTURA ICO MIGLIORE + MARA SERVETTO EXHIBITION DESIGN AND LIGHTNESS TUESDAY 4 APRIL AT 6.30 PM Lightness. Lightness built into an exhibition design that defines the unique identity of a multi-functional underground space. Migliore and Servetto discuss their approach to the second edition of space&interiors. Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto graduated in Architecture at the Turin Polytechnic, studying under Achille Castiglioni; later they moved to Milan to work with him at the Milan Polytechnic. In 1997 they founded Migliore+Servetto Architects in Milan, taking on projects featuring different scales and winning numerous international awards. In their projects light and new technologies are employed expressively; they approach interior design aiming to highlight the identity and narrative potential of the surrounding environment. Among the recent projects: the new format for Dmail stores worldwide, the new Mondadori stores in Italy, the exhibition “Steve Jobs o Visionário” in Rio de Janeiro and in San Paolo, the exhibit “B&B Italia / The perfect density” at Triennale di Milano,“Leonardiana.
