Welcome To Par T Golf® and The Double Eagle,

"The Incredible Golf Machine"®

Welcome to Par T Golf, the world leader in realistic indoor golf simulation. With the incredible Double Eagle you and your friends or customers now have the rare opportunity of playing a full 18–hole round of golf on your choice of available world class golf courses, using all your own regulation clubs and golf balls.

Up to 10 golfers at a time may select from a variety of World-Class courses or use the Practice Mode to improve individual skills.

An average golfer can play 18 holes of in just 45 minutes, making this a perfect alternative for the busy executive, salesperson or any other golf enthusiast who is short on time.

USGA rules are followed, including penalties, for optimum realism and performance. The Par T Golf Simulator offers the most fun and opportunity for both beginning and advanced golfers, without regard to season, outdoor weather conditions or the time of day.

How the Double Eagle Operates

Your Double Eagle consists of several primary components which are integrated by electronic cables and supported by an attractive framework. These components compose of:

1) The Platform: Fashioned from and covered by decorative putting carpet, it serves as the base for the entire system. All construction and installation is outlined in Section B.

2) The Frame: The metal framework is essential for the structure and support of the screen, canopy, audio speakers and sensing system. Its assembly is made easy by the modular design and is outlined in Section C.

3) The Electronics: The Projector, the Optisense™ and the Control Console are the heart of the Double Eagle. These systems integrate to form a state-of-the-art indoor golf system. They project course images, sense ball flight and analyze collected data. Key vocabulary, as well as, installation, operation and maintenance information for each system is given in Section D.

When a golfer takes a shot, the flies through the overhead cameras’ field of vision, strikes a projected image on the screen and falls to the putting carpet. Cameras immediately transmit the ball’s flight information to the control console, which calculates speed, spin, elevation and direction of the ball. A graphical display of the ball is generated and sent through the projector on to the screen.

Finally, the view on screen changes to reflect the golfers new lie.

An incredible process that all happens in a few split seconds.

Welcome to the World of Indoor Golf

Chapter 1 PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION

SIMULATOR POSITIONING

There are a few items that need to be addressed prior to constructing the platform, the laying of carpet or assembling any components. One of the most important aspects of installation is machine location within the facility. We recommend that the machine be placed in an area that is well ventilated and an area that has little or no ambient light. The Double Eagle works best when there is low lighting conditions and plenty of room for the golfers to swing. This allows for maximum enjoyment and worry free operation.

The maintenance and installation guide is an important factor in the operation of the Double Eagle. It is comprised of important information about the system and includes several “tricks-of-the-trade” and tips for set-up and long term maintenance. Prior to calling customer service, refer to this guide.

It is also important for owners and operators to be very familiar with the machine and all of its components with their associated names and functions. Being familiar with the names of the components aids in discussing issues related to operation and service. The following is a drawing that illustrates the locations and names of the items of your system. Please refer to this often to familiarize yourself with these very important components.

Chapter 4 PUTTING CARPET INSTALLATION

In this chapter we outline the manufacturer's recommended procedures for attaching the putting carpet to your newly constructed platform. It is recommended that a skilled carpet layer install the putting carpet.

THE CARPET SHOULD BE IN PLACE PRIOR TO ERECTING THE FRAME OR INSTALLING ANY OF THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS.

CARPET INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

It is recommended that a skilled carpet layer install the putting carpet.

Ideal temperature for installation is from 55º F to 95º F with relative humidity between 10% and 65%.

Putting carpet should be installed with seams as shown in Figure 6.

STEP 1 Clean the platform – The plywood surface must be thoroughly cleaned which should include sweeping and vacuuming, to insure that it is completely free of all dirt, paint, grease, oils or contaminants which will prevent good adhesion.

STEP 2 Place and unroll carpet – Unroll the carpet, beginning at the screen-end of the putting platform.

Allow unrolled carpet one – The carpet should be allowed to lay unrolled and to relax, for at least one hour to relax hour before installation.

STEP 3 Cut and splice turf to fit – The turf should be installed with the seams on the right side of the platform platform facing the screen.

Figure 6

STEP 4 Apply Adhesive to half of – You should need approximately 5 gallons of a standard carpet adhesive platform to attach putting carpet to the platform.

– Using a 1/8” x 1/8” (3 x 3 mm) V-notched trowel, spread the adhesive to one-half of the platform.

REMINDER: The adhesive should be non-flammable and compatible with carpet backing.

STEP 5 Use contact method for – Contact method of lay-in suggests that the turf is: (i) laid directly into the carpet lay-in wet adhesive immediately after the adhesive has been applied; (ii) then flattened out using any flat object such as an industrial broom; (iii) then pulled back out of the adhesive bed and allowed to air dry with both adhesive surfaces exposed to the air for at least 5 minutes; and finally (iv) re-laid onto the tacky adhesive.

SECTION B THE PLATFORM B12 PAR T GOLF DOUBLE EAGLE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL

Attach carpet to half of the – This method is used to assure that the carpet backing surface is covered platform completely with at least fifty percent of the applied adhesive, resulting in fewer installation bubbles or problems due to the adhesive. Bond strength between carpet, adhesive and platform develops much faster using the contact method.

STEP 6 Repeat steps 4 and 5 for – Follow the procedure outlined in Steps 4 and 5 above to lay the turf on the other half of platform. the remaining portion of the platform.

STEP 7 Roll the carpet – Once the carpet has been properly joined to the platform, the entire area should be rolled using a 35 pound roller. Roll carpet in both E-W and N-S directions to assure proper bond.

PLACING THE PAR T TRI-TURF™

STEP 8 Set Tri-Turf into place – Locate the plywood pieces removed for the Tri-Turf cut out and place them in the hole, on the floor. Figure 6 _ Set the Tri-Turf into place, on top of plywood scraps (above).

NOTE: In the event a bubble should develop, DO NOT cut or slit open the raised area. Most bubbles are caused from solvents left in the adhesive and trapped under the turf during lay-in. The best way to remove them is to puncture the bubble with an awl, ice pick or hypodermic syringe and press the trapped solvent gas vapors out by pressing and squeezing the area with both hands. Allow the turf to lay back into the adhesive and either sand bag or re-roll the area to develop maximum bond strength.

If for some reason the bubble does not re-bond adequately, the hypodermic syringe can be used with a small quantity of seam sealer to re-bond the turf to the platform. After the sealer has been injected into the bubble, spread the sealer by hand rubbing and then allow it to air dry for 5 to 10 minutes before rolling.

Chapter 10 AIMING AND CALIBRATING THE CAMERA

NOTE: You will need: (i) a six foot ladder; (ii) a measuring tape; (iii) a white golf ball; (iv) two black No. 10 wood screws; (v) a white business card; and (vi) the allen-wrench/screw driver tool (provided).

Each of the three cameras must be properly and independently aimed in order to give an accurate reading of the golf ball's flight. Each camera is mounted to the Optisense with three adjustment socket head cap screws. The camera angle can be adjusted by gently turning one or more of these adjustment screws with the special allen-wrench/screw driver tool provided.

To aim the cameras: (i) establish three targets, one for each camera, then (ii) independently aim each camera at its target. After all of the cameras are accurately aimed, they are said to be in alignment. The cameras will get out of alignment periodically. To realign them, follow the steps in this section.

NOTE: Although the cameras do not require any focusing, you will need to occasionally adjust the amount of light they receive. This is referred to as the camera's "sensitivity".

AREA SET-UP

STEP 1 Mark the three Calibration – In order to align the cameras, you must first locate the three calibration points points (targets) on the putting surface.

Locate Calibration Points – Using your measuring tape, locate two points on the Putting Turf #1 and #2 immediately in front of the Tri-Turf. Both points are in the center (side to side) of the platform. The first point is 6” (152 mm) in front of the Drawings 10A & 10B Tri-Turf. The second point is 32” (813 mm) in front of the Tri-Turf.

Mark Points #1 and #2 – At each point, insert a black, #10 wood screw, recessed 1/4 inch below with a black screw carpet surface. These screws mark Calibration Point #1 and Calibration Point #2.

When you cross camera #1’s field of vision, you will see a graphical representation of the object in camera #1. This will be displayed directly on the screen. It will also display a number and a size for the object in the camera. This will be the same for all cameras.

Meaning of Numbers – Each camera continuously monitors its narrow "Camera Line", which is located directly in front of its lens and parallel to the screen. The numbers represent data from the camera. They refer to the location of objects on the camera's camera line. Drawing 10B This narrow camera line is calibrated from #0 (far left) to #512 (far right), with #256 being at the center.

When the camera is properly aimed, the message on the screen will read 256 and a size number (The size number depends on the strength of the signal of the camera).

Ensure that the cabling attached to the Optisense are connected properly prior to calling for service. Other potential problems (and solutions) are outlined below.

PROBLEM #1: Check Camera is displayed on the large screen.

REASON: The Optisense is not communicating with the control console.

SOLUTIONS: 1. Ensure that the USB cable is – The USB cables are the cables that transmits data from the Optisense to the connected well. Control Console. On top of the Optisense, the USB cable is the cable that is (supposed to be) connected to the USB connector. Disconnect the cable and reconnect the cable to ensure proper contact is being made.

Also, the USB cable connects at the Control Console and the same disconnect and reconnect procedure should be followed to verify proper connection. There are two usb cables connected in the middle, check this connection also.

If this removes the “CHECK CAMERA” message, you are finished. If not, refer to solution 2.

2. Reinitialize data transfer by – Sometimes data is “caught” in the sensing system and is unable to transmit turning off power to the properly. Reinitialization can be achieved by turning the power off to the Optisense. Optisense (Optisense only) by using the black power switch on the front of the Optisense enclosure and turning the power back on.

If this removes the “CHECK CAMERA” message, you are finished. If not, refer to solution 3.

3. Turn off power to computer. – The USB driver may need to be reinstalled. Turn off the computer and unplug for 30 seconds. Restart the computer and Restore Game if you wish to start where you left off.

4. Replace Optisense Controller – Call Optronics for technical support….(801) 486-5407. board.

ALTERNATIVE GOLF GAMES

Please refer to page E10 for instructions on selecting one of the following exciting alternatives to the standard Stroke Play.

There are several golf games incorporated into the Double Eagle. These alternative games add excitement to golf play and may also add new dimensions to tournament play. Aspects of the games are listed below.

Stroke Play - Traditional 9 or 18-hole play with the winner being the individual player with the lowest number of strokes over the course.

Scramble - A team game where each team player hits the ball and the resulting longest ball is chosen. All players on the team move to that position to hit their next shots. The team score is the number of strokes over the course and the lowest score wins.

Skins - A single point is awarded to the individual golfer scoring the lowest stroke- total on each hole. If two or more players tie on a hole, the point is carried on to the next hole and both points are awarded to the winner.

Multiple points may be awarded to a player if a tie occurs on previous holes and a single player eventually scores the lowest stroke-total on a hole.

Shootout - A game where several players begin by playing through the first hole. The person with the highest stroke-total is eliminated and the rest of the players continue on to the next hole.

In the event of a high-score tie (on any hole), the players that tie compete in a “chip-off” and the player with the high score in the “chip-off” is eliminated and the winner continues on with the other players. The last remaining player is the winner.

Practice - - See page E10 for description and procedure for using this option. Driving Range
