Indoor Golf Simulator INDOOR GOLF SIMULATOR Glacier Club is excited to announce the addition of an Indoor Golf Simulator as our newest amenity for Members and their Guests! The ForeSight Golf Sim-in-a-Box is currently set up in the Valley Clubhouse’s Prospector Hall. Reservations for playing golf, games, practice, or lessons can be made 7 days in advance by calling the Mountain Golf Shop or booking online using the member’s website. The simulator will be open for business starting on Monday, December 14. It is paired with the best launch monitor in the industry, the GC Quad, so you not only get true-to-life game performance indoors, but you get the game’s best performance analysis tool for outdoors as well! The GC Quad launch monitor uses 4 high speed cameras to capture ball and club face data. Possible ball data include ball speed, launch angle, azimuth (determines if you pull or push the ball from your starting line), total spin, and spin-tilt axis (the axis that the golf ball rotates around to create shoot curvature and lift). Possible club data includes club speed, impact point, angle of attack, club path, delivered face angle, delivered lie angle, impact loft, and closure rate. All these data points, along with insight from one of Glacier’s Golf Professionals, will give a golfer the best opportunity to improve their game. Golf is a fickle game. It’s based on such a simple principle; simply hole out in as few strokes as possible, but unfortunately, this is much harder than it sounds? So what makes this game so difficult? From my experience, the more I play this game the more I realize that golf’s difficulty comes from the scale of movements and mis-movements that a player makes. While you might think you made the same swing you normally do, a couple millimeters of change above, below, left, or right of the ball at contact can completely change the outcome of your shot. Similarly, two or three degrees of adjustment in how the club strikes the ball can be the difference between your shot flying down the fairway or slicing into the water. This required level of precision, in my opinion, is frustrating for a lot of golfers and is the single biggest limitation of a player’s improvement. Although these small physical changes in each swing dramatically affect your round, this really is what makes the game fun and satisfying to play at a high level.
