January CC SNFCC.org /SNFCC • #SNFCC January at the SNFCC This year, once again, many hundreds of thousands of visitors embraced the SNFCC Christmas World and welcomed the New Year with us, saying goodbye to 2019 in the most spectacular way. For the third year in a row, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center’s visitor numbers substantially increased, demonstrating that the SNFCC continues to expand its appeal as a prime destination for entertainment, learning, culture and environmental education. We would like to thank you all for another exciting year in which you honored us with your presence, supporting our work and activities. We look forward to seeing you again for a vibrant 2020, with new activities, experiences and surprises! The Canal’s Dancing Fountains continue to enchant us with their spectacular choreographies and the Ice Rink invites young and old to endless whirling and skating, until 02/02! At the intersection of painting and poetry, Jannis Psychopedis’s exhibition Poetical Works is extended through to 31/01, accompanied by a lecture on Andreas Embiricos’s poetics, as well as creative art workshops. In January’s Parabases, Maria Skoula and Orfeas Avgoustidis introduce us to Nobelist author Elfriede Jelinek’s novel The Piano Teacher – a riveting work of fiction that comes alive in SNFCC Reader’s Theater under the directorial gaze of Dimitris Karantzas. Meanwhile, 2020 starts with new music adventures, with Jazz Chronicles offering an exciting concert of creative improvisation and original compositions, masterfully fusing different soundscapes. On 27/01 four acclaimed musicians perform live together for the first time at the SNFCC, presenting a unique interpretation of Simeon ten Holt’s celebrated minimalist composition Canto Ostinato. Last but not least, discover an ever-increasing array of opportunities to learn and have fun, environmental events, as well as a wide range of sports activities taking place in the Stavros Niarchos Park.
