DANIEL DJAMBAZIAN Daniel Djambazian was born in Marseille, of Armenian origin, and grew up in Los Angeles. After earning his Bachelor's degree from California State University of Northridge, Daniel studied singing with Professor John Paton, Fred Carama from the Julliard school of music and Leo Ferri in Rome. He made his debut in 2000 in two operas by Marcello Panni: Pablo Picasso The Banquet at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova and Zeus Il Giudizio di Paride at the Opéra de Nice. Giancarlo del Monaco invited Daniel to sing Roucher Andrea Chenier, Leporello Don Giovanni (a role he went on to sing at the Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa di Savona), Jupiter Orphee aux Enfers, Dr. Grenvil La Traviata, Duc de Verone Romeo et Juliette and Luther/Schlemihl/Herman Les Contes d’Hoffman. Since November 2002 Daniel has been a principal at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf. There his major roles have included Leporello Don Giovanni, Don Bartolo Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Dulcamara in L'Elisir d'Amore, Schaunard La Bohème, Haly L’Italiana in Algeri, Samuele Un Ballo in Maschera, Le Dancaire Carmen, Giuseppe The Gondoliers, Pistola Falstaff. Other roles have included Dr Grenvil, Monterone Rigoletto, Il Sagrestano Tosca, Haushofmeister Capriccio, the Day Manager and Christian in the world premiere of Giorgio Battistelli's modern opera, The Fashion In recent seasons Daniel has sung L'Officier in Dialogues des Carmelites, (dir. Nicolas Joel) at the Theatre du Capitole in Toulouse, Haly in L'Italiana in Algeri (dir. Christof Loy), Nireno in Giulio Caesare (dir. Philip Himmelman), Schaunard in La Boheme, Le Satyre in Rameau’s Platee, Bosun in Billy Budd, Il Pedone in Nicolas Joel’s La Wally, Monterone Rigoletto Sagrestano Tosca L’Officier, and Bogdanowitsch in The Merry Widow at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf. In the 2011/12 season, Daniel sang Mathieu in Andrea Chenier (a role he sang at the Theatre du Capitole, Toulouse in the 2007/8 season), Lovell in Battistelli's Richard III and Le Devin in Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s Le Devin du Village fort he 300th anniversary of Rousseau’s birth at the Grand Theatre de Geneve, as well as Don Bartolo Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Dancaire Carmen, Old Adam Goodheart Ruddigore and cover Don Alfonso Cosi fan Tutte at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In 2012/2013 Daniel will sing Dr Grenvil in La Traviata at the Grand Theatre de Geneve and, fort he Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Sagrestano, Schaunard, Dancaire, Antonio Le Nozze di Figaro, Monterrone and Samuele. In concert, Daniel has sung the Mother in Kurt Weil’s Die Sieben Todsunden, Don Inigo Gomez L’Heure Espagnole and Le Narrateur A Survivor of Warsaw by Arnold Schoenberg, Handel’s Dettinghem Anthem for the Halle Handel Festival and the first performances in France of Philip Glass’ Songs of Milarepa with the Nice and Marseille Philharmonic Orchestras. He also sang Puccini's Messa di Gloria and Rossini's and Dvorak's Stabat Mater in France with Michel Piquemal and Marco Guidarini conducting. Daniel Djambazian has recorded Joseph Kosma’s oratorio Les Ponts de Paris with the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Vincent Monteil. Daniel has worked with stage directors such as Gian-Carlo del Monaco, Tobias Richter, Jean-Claude Auvray, Gilbert Deflo, Paul-Emile Fourny, Jerome Savary, Jean-Louis Pichon, Christof Loy, Dietrich Hilsdorf, Christof Nel, Benno Besson, Philip Himmelman and Alain Garichot. Daniel has worked with conductors such as Renato Palumbo, Marco Guidarini, John Fiore, Marcello Panni, Alexander Joel, Pinkas Steinberg, Gabriel Chmura, Kerri-Lynn Wilson, Andreas Stoehr, Michel Piquemal, Hans Wallat and Maurizio Barbacini.
