For those who don't know me, my name is Ian Murphy (Murf) and I am the Clerk of the Course for the trial, a position I have held since 2006. At the end of the 2005 event, the then Clerk of the Course Phil Ward, retired, leaving the committee looking for a replacement. Well they looked and looked but no one came forward for the job. I took the job temporarily until someone could be found and 13 years later I am still here waiting for that someone!..... The Manx 2 Day has now become a way of life for me. There have been many problems to face and changes to make, some good, some bad and some totally fantastic but any changes made by the committee are all done with the best interests of the event at heart. Three or four years ago the event was in decline with falling entries. We, the committee, took the op- portunity for change and moved the event to the new July date. I am pleased to say this was one of the best things we have done. Now we are back to a situation where the event is over subscribed and entries fill up with in a few days of opening. I will also say that if the date had not changed the 2 Day Trial would not have survived. I have been attending trial events all over Europe since 1996 and have also NOTE TO SPECTATORS been involved in running four World Trial rounds and two TDNs but with out a doubt the Manx is by far the best. Whilst we encourage spectators to watch our competitors at the Section A big thank you now to the rest of the 2 Day Committee, without them Groups wherever possible please note that some of our routes involve there is no trial. The same goes for all the Marshals and Observers and the many landowners on who we depend year after year. travel over private land. Please do not follow Competitors over such land. Only competitors and Finally to you the riders who continue to support us, a massive thank you officials may use these sections. Permission has been specially obtained all. and, for the future of the event, we do not want to jeopardise the Murf Premier Award Sponsors; ARE PLEASED TO ONCE AGAIN SUPPORT THE MANX NATIONAL 2 DAY TRIAL The Association regularly provides technical support not just to the Manx National 2 Day Trial but to other prestigious events like the IOM TT, Manx Grand Prix, Classic TT, Southern 100 & Manxduro to name but a few. • Roads Long and Medium Term Plans
Highway Services - Roads Medium & Long Term priorities Updated : 19/03/21 (TC) Preface This document outlines the current road priorities across each type of road on the roads hierarchy. The roads hierarchy is available on the Department's website, and represents the relative importance of roads to the Island's network. More spend proportionally is expected on the more important routes which provide strategic routes for the Island. This is a working document that is subject to change. Any dates provided are only indicative, roads may be How do you identify future works? based on their condition and types of treatment available, and also other factors such as bus routes, racing courses and traffic volumes. Why are all the high priority works not undertaken first? Some roads may require more complex works than others. Major undertakings may require a capital bid where it is not possible to fund from the general maintenance fund. For example, roads with underlying concrete slabs that have failed require extensive reconstruction and may require a capital scheme. There may also be other considerations such as other works on the network or future schemes in the same area. Some works may require further investigation or other improvements (such as kerbing or drainage) before they can be Why is my road not on the list? We prioritise roads based on the factors identified above against the budget available. Residential roads are prioritised separately through the residential roads refurbishment programme. Why do you use other methods that do not last as long as full resurfacing? The most cost effective way to manage our road assets is through using the appropriate solution, which often includs preventative maintenance before full resurfacing is required.

The Summer Party was a huge success, something we will repeat and our Test Days at Jurby have been greatly enjoyed. This has resulted in a number of new and younger members to the Club which has to be positive for our Section, it certainly bucks the national VMCC trend. Our Jurby Festival now looms large and I would ask all members to help on or before the day as we really need you.
