For those who don't know me, my name is Ian Murphy (Murf) and I am the Clerk of the Course for the trial, a position I have held since 2006. At the end of the 2005 event, the then Clerk of the Course Phil Ward, retired, leaving the committee looking for a replacement. Well they looked and looked but no one came forward for the job. I took the job temporarily until someone could be found and 13 years later I am still here waiting for that someone!..... The Manx 2 Day has now become a way of life for me. There have been many problems to face and changes to make, some good, some bad and some totally fantastic but any changes made by the committee are all done with the best interests of the event at heart. Three or four years ago the event was in decline with falling entries. We, the committee, took the op- portunity for change and moved the event to the new July date. I am pleased to say this was one of the best things we have done. Now we are back to a situation where the event is over subscribed and entries fill up with in a few days of opening. I will also say that if the date had not changed the 2 Day Trial would not have survived. I have been attending trial events all over Europe since 1996 and have also NOTE TO SPECTATORS been involved in running four World Trial rounds and two TDNs but with out a doubt the Manx is by far the best. Whilst we encourage spectators to watch our competitors at the Section A big thank you now to the rest of the 2 Day Committee, without them Groups wherever possible please note that some of our routes involve there is no trial. The same goes for all the Marshals and Observers and the many landowners on who we depend year after year. travel over private land. Please do not follow Competitors over such land. Only competitors and Finally to you the riders who continue to support us, a massive thank you officials may use these sections. Permission has been specially obtained all. and, for the future of the event, we do not want to jeopardise the Murf Premier Award Sponsors; ARE PLEASED TO ONCE AGAIN SUPPORT THE MANX NATIONAL 2 DAY TRIAL The Association regularly provides technical support not just to the Manx National 2 Day Trial but to other prestigious events like the IOM TT, Manx Grand Prix, Classic TT, Southern 100 & Manxduro to name but a few.
