Newsletter. February 2015 Croydon & Brighton Section Dear Member Our 2015 season got off to a great start – lets keep up the momentum! Our February meeting continues the Thameslink theme but on a more technical note. don’t forget our Spring meetings are held on the second Thursday. At our recent section secretary's meeting targets were set for section membership growth now the national decline has been halted however membership of this section continues to stagnate and indeed decline – we really do need members to act as PWI ambassadors in their respective businesses and publicise the meetings and encourage the benefits of membership. Please do what you can to promote the Institution and the section. Thank you. February Meeting. Thursday 12th. 17.30 for 17.45. Mott MacDonald House. Track Forms in the Thameslink Canal tunnel a presentation by Peter Fagg, Programme Engineer (Track) from the Thameslink Project. He will describe the challenges that have been addressed in the design and installation of the Track form within the Canal Tunnels which will connect the Thameslink “Core” and the East Coast Main line. A route that is scheduled to be operational from May 2018. Committee meeting beforehand at 16.45. As usual we will adjourn to the Porter and Sorter after the meetings to continue the debates. 2015 Meetings Remember we meet on second THURSDAYS January to May., 12/3, Great western Electrification. Simon Rhoden – Amey. AGM (provisional) 9/4, Andy Foan on S&C Developments AGM - Alternative 14/5. To be advised National events. North West Technical Seminar, S&C Maintenance, Reliability and Life Extension. David Godley, Professional Head of Track for Network Rail will present the Keynote Speech. Papers will cover S&C Life Extension Methods, RILA Survey, Railvac studies, whole life cost for S&C and S&C Maintenance Problem Identification & Solutions. Thursday 5th March, Manchester Conference Centre, a short walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. Details available from the website, in the journal or from the secretary. Remember meetings qualify for CPD Progress has been made on the road to Professional Membership – we could see our first chartered members in 2015.
