The Oxford-Cambridge Arc is a globally significant place, home to world-leading technology clusters, two of the world’s leading universities. The economic prospectus for the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, published in October 2020, states that the area covered by the arc has 2 million jobs and generates over £111 billion of economic output per year.1 The prospectus promotes the region as a “highly successful, fast-growing and productive network of places”, that with additional investment would be enhanced further. In February 2021, the Government published its plan for developing “a spatial framework” for the Arc, including a timeline and how it will work with local partners. The plan cites studies suggesting large economic gains: Forecasts vary, but successive studies have found that there is a clear transformational opportunity. With the right interventions and investment, economic forecasts suggest that by 2050 we would see economic output growing by between £80.4 billion and £163 billion per annum, with between -

This was the society's second attempt at producing a journal for members. The first, way back in 1951, reportedly lasted only two issues, and its title, if it had one, has been long forgotten. Ashpan No. 1 had only nine pages including the front cover, although it was in A4 format rather than the A5 size we are used to today. The cover itself was a full page illustration by Peter Pardington's late father, and this image was used for the front cover of the first nine issues of Ashpan. -

OFFICIAL Community Relations Square One 4 Travis Street Manchester M1 2NY T 03457 11 41 41 April 2021 Ref: Bank Holiday working and road/footpath closures Dear Neighbour, Upcoming works in Bletchley East West Rail Alliance would like to inform you of works which are taking place in Bletchley. Works will consist of lifting and placing the precast reinforced concrete bridge beams to support the two ends of Bletchley flyover using several cranes positioned in the compound adjacent to Water Eaton Road. These works are only permitted to be undertaken when the West Coast Main Line is closed due to the proximity to the operational railway. Works will be taking place 24hrs a day whilst the West Coast Main Line is closed over the May Bank Holiday. The dates are as followed Saturday 1st May to Tuesday 4th May. There will be staff on site before and after these start/end times, mobilising and demobilising plant and equipment. Contingency dates have also been arranged should they be required. These are as follows: • 8th May - 11:00pm to 6:00am • 5th May - 11:00pm to 06:00am • 22nd May - 11:00pm to 06:00am Buckingham Road closure Buckingham Road will be closed from Monday 7th June to Monday 19th July 2021. This is to enable the installation of concrete beams that will support the new flyover. Health and safety to the public and our workforce requires the road to be closed when the lifting crane is setup on both sides of the carriageway. Bus services will be diverted, a notice has been placed at Buckingham Road bus stop and Bletchley bus station. -

In the fast-growing area that is South Cambridgeshire, participating in conversations that shape the expansion of rail services all around us is a must. At the same time, a strong focus on improvements for Meldreth, Shepreth and Foxton Station infrastructure underpins our Local Rail Improvement Plan and offers a clear assessment of station accessibility requirements. -

Joint Performance Improvement Update Issued 28 February 2018 This report gives progress on the joint improvement plan for Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) and Network Rail with punctuality data by route, as well as the main operational issues in the period (there are 13, 4-week reporting periods per year), and planned customer improvements. PPM* statistics and delay responsibility by route – Period 11 (to 3 February 2018) Gatwick Express Great Northern Southern Thameslink *The public performance measure (PPM) data above shows the percentage of trains which arrive at their terminating station within five minutes of the planned arrival time. It combines figures for punctuality and reliability into a single performance measure. A summary of key issues affecting performance in this period GTR’s PPM in Period 11 was 82.9 per cent, a rise of six percentage points from Period 10. This lifted the Moving Annual Average (MMA) to 81.3 per cent, maintaining the steady improvement achieved through 2017. Within the GTR total, Southern’s PPM increased by almost seven percentage points to 80.9 per cent, edging its MMA up to 79.7 per cent. On Southern, the period’s most disruptive incidents were a points failure near London Victoria (1,700 delay minutes and 32 cancellations), an incident at Durrington-on-Sea (1,066 delay minutes and 44 cancellations), and a track fault near Portsmouth (558 delay minutes and 39 cancellations). Thameslink’s PPM of 89.0 per cent was also an improvement over the previous period’s 85.4 per cent. A loss of power to the track at City Thameslink station caused 1,250 delay minutes and 153 cancellations.
