This Sunday, Jesus continues his challenging Sermon on the Mount. " your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you ? Give to everyone who asks of you, and

Many of us 7:00 am †Frank Damweber have grown up in a culture of independence and 8:00 am †Daniel Collins retaliation against those who harm us. Today's Gospel

reminds us that the way of the world is not 26 Tuesday Sir 2:1-11; Ps 37:3-4, 18-19, 27-28, 39-40; necessarily the way of the disciple. Mk 9:30-37

7:00 am †Patricia Bourdeau In many spiritual texts, saints describe the first stage of

That is, we 27 Wednesday Sir 4:11-19; Ps 119:165, 168, 171-172, 174-175; love Him because he "pays" us with graces and good Mk 9:38-40 things. Consider for a moment, why do you do the good 7:00 am †Harry Smith that you do? Take volunteering, for example. How often do we talk about the good service evokes and

8:00 am †Charles Michel how you "get so much more than you give." This is still 28 Thursday Sir 5:1-8; Ps 1:1-4, 6; Mk 9:41-50 based on an attitude of return on our investment. Would 7:00 am †Eilish Maher we volunteer if we knew it was good to do, but we didn't

What if the people we helped seemed ungrateful, or if someone at the food pantry stole 1 Friday Sir 6:5-17; Ps 119:12, 16, 18, 27, 34-35; Mk 10:1-12 $20 out of our purse? It can be difficult to love people 7:00 am †Marguerite Bechard when we think we might not get anything back. "For if 8:00 am †Catherine Lally you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?"

2 Saturday Sir 17:1-15; Ps 103:13-18; Mk 10:13-16 As Christians, we are called to imitate God. We 8:00 am †Daniel Collins follow a God who not only His closest friends, but 4:00 pm †Dula Bosold who loves betrayers, deniers, and crucifiers. The Celebrant: Fr. EPIPHANY CATHEDRAL SCHOOL’S STUDENT COUNCIL IS PARTNERING WITH VENICE LIONS CLUB ONCE AGAIN

“Looking” to get rid of all those old pairs of glasses that are just lying around? Well Epiphany Cathedral School’s Student Council is partnering once again with the Lions Club to help with their “Youth Recycle for Sight Project”.

***Please help us beat last year’s totals of 47 glasses, 23 sunglasses, 4 contacts and 70lbs of tabs!

We will be collecting the following items NOW - February 28th: • Used prescription eyeglasses • Sunglasses • Unopened contacts • Hearing aids/batteries • Old cell phones

The Lions Club will clean, refurbish, package and ship these collected items to underdeveloped countries where they will be distributed to young and old members of the International Lions Club in that country. The Lion’s Eyeglass Boxes are located in the school office and the church foyer.

Along with helping the Lions Club with that fantastic project, we are also helping them with the “Shriner’s Aluminum Can Tab Collection Program”. Please save your tabs and bring them in also. These will be recycled and the money will be donated to help with the maintenance of wheelchairs for children.

***The containers for these will be located in the church foyer and school office during the collection dates.

Please note: Epiphany Cathedral School’s 5th Grade teacher, Mrs. Underwood collects the tabs year round. Feel free to bring them to the school office anytime.

Adopt A Sea Camper! For Just $500! Students in Epiphany Cathedral School’s Environmental Club are attending Sea Camp this spring. The Environmental Club meets each month, working, researching and learning about our environment. This year the Club’s focus has been on our estuary and red tide. Our young environmentalists have taken samples, examined them under a microscope, and analyzed the results. They have visited the Sarasota Water Plant, and set up a rain barrel that is used to water our 2nd grade garden and support the Gardening Club’s efforts. The cost for attendance is $650 per camper, which is a bit much for some of our kiddos! Would you be interested in sharing their camp cost?

For just $500 you can help send one of our environmentalists to camp!

Just 30 miles from Key West in the beautiful Florida Keys, Seacamp shows the way to the sense of within students that will last a lifetime. Seacamp is minutes from the only living coral reef in all America. Here they can see an almost endless variety of marine life forms as they existed eons ago, before some emerged from the sea to become mammal ... and man.

The Marine Science programs include field study: labs, wading, kayaking, and boat trips. Boat trips take place on our triple-hull flattop boats and are snorkeling based. Classes are taught by instructors who have earned a 4-year degree in Marine Science, Oceanography, or a related field. Within each course there are correlated activities, providing unique interdisciplinary experiences for campers. Over 400 types of fish, coral, and algae found in our ecologically diverse waters provide opportunities for study.
