page 1 / 2 Burgas participates again in the Night of literature Tuesday, 12 May 2015 The night of 13 May in Burgas, between 18:00 and 22:00 hours, will pass under the mark of public readings. In this manner, for a consecutive year, Burgas will mark the Night of literature. This is a unique event, which presents in front of a broad audience in an accessible and attractive way the contemporary European literature. In Burgas this will happen at the open-air stage "Ohluva". The initiative has an international meaning, because in it every year participate Prague, Amsterdam, Bratislava, Brussels, Bucharest, Vilnius, Dublin, Lisbon, London, Munich, Paris, Saint Petersburg, Florence, and many more European and Bulgarian cities. On 13 May, in the same time, in all participating cities will be organized public readings of works by contemporary European authors. People with disabilities are joining with enthusiasm the initiative in Burgas. This s why some of the texts will be available in Braille writing system, made possible by the Center for rehabilitation and integration of visually impaired people. A teacher from the Humanitarian faculty of University "Prof. Dr. As. Zlatarov" and a student of his are also participating. The texts are divided between ladies with motor, hearing and visual impairments. Singers and musicians will be in charge of the night's good mood - the idea is every fragment of text to be supplemented with a presentation of the musical culture of Spain, Czech Republic and Hungary. A fragment of the book "The sky has come back", by the Spanish author Clara Sanchez, will be read by Svetla Manasieva. The Hungarian cultural institute presents the book Budapest Noir, by Vilmos Kondor - read by Veronica Petrova. The book "The Germans" of the Czech author Jakuba Katalpa will be read in Braille by Katya Mircheva. Library "P.K. Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Humanities Budapest, 2008 The Object, the Goal and the Theoretical Framework of the Research The object of the dissertation is the approach of contemporary Hungarian crime fiction from an epistemological and a reader-response critical point of view, and, furthermore, the examination of the shifts in the epistemological horizons and in the discourses of crime. Foregrounding the process of cognition provides the opportunity to study this genre in a wider cultural and historical context along the issues of the historical constructions of observation and seeing, reading, the closely related concepts of space, time and narrative, the secret, the accessibility of the past and the medial conditioning of the possibilities of ”fixing” the criminal. The ”models” of observation (Crary) are inseparable from the reorganization of knowledge, i.e. from the fact that thay provide diverse modes of cognition. The dissertation formulates the paradigms of investigation in crime fiction on the basis of epistemological, semiotical and reader-response critical considerations. In addition, it presents their (re)interpretations in various and diverse initiatives in contemporary Hungarian literature. The goal of studying the epistemological paradigms of investigation carries the methodological consequence that, in order to clarify the modes of posing these problems, the dissertation involves, besides contemporary Hungarian literature, foreign, older Hungarian and also works enforcing other generic codes.

The topic of Otherness has been investigated from the point of view of popular culture and popular l ction studies, especially on the basis of the multiracial social environments of the United States. The challenges of addressing real or potential conm icts in areas characterised by an ethnic puzzle are to some extent similar, but at the same time differ substantively from the political, legal, and l ctional world of “race.” This paper investigates these differences in the ways of overcoming ethnic stereotyping on the basis of examples taken from post-World War II crime l ction of Southern Europe, and Middle East. In communist and post-communist Eastern Central Europe there are not many instances of mediational crime l ction. This paper will point to the few, although notable exceptions, while hypothesizing on the factors that could favor in the foreseeable future the emergence and expansion of such artistic experiments in the multiethnic and multicultural province of Transylvania. And, in spite of the commitment of cultural studies experts to expose the network of discriminative prescriptions and procedures which allegedly were always silently at work in the mental depths of popular culture (Cohen 2000, Spencer 2006, Rushing 2007, Evans 2009), this type of l ction still remains, in the eyes of numerous members of the public, an unsophisticated way of getting a “good,” even if not necessarily “clean” fun.
