During the days we spent at each project school, we could compare our school systems and teaching methods as well as learn something about our ways of life. The project has inspired many teachers to promote a healthy lifestyle. In some schools grants of physical education were strengthened. The most important in our project were opportunities to meet new friends among students and teachers, show them some places of interest in our countries, regions and schools. We all were enthusiastic about the cooperation. There were plenty of tears when our last day came and we had to say good bye. We will never forget the days spent with our new friends and we hope to visit our wonderful countries again in the future. Now finally we are here to show our final product. This book was EAT SMART MOVE A LOT... written by the participants who were involved in multilateral school partnership programme Comenius among six European schools PARTNER SCHOOLS Our journey started two years ago when we first found each other from Turkey, the Czech Republic, Poland, Greece, Italy, Romania. -

If by “miracles” you mean exploring the popular, hockey-like sports of Russia and Eastern Europe, Tr. Patrick and Tr. Dan sure do. In our middlesession group, we will learn about the “Miracle on Ice,” try out feet at ice skating, figure out and play bandy and floorball, and possibly invent our own hybrid-sport! And we’ll eat some nice food! Eastern European Folk Dance and Song Trs. Heather and Jonathan Stand up and dance! Open your mouth and sing! Come learn a variety of folk dances from different Eastern European countries. From Macedonian line dances to Czech polkas, we will explore a wide variety of dance styles. To rest our feet periodically, we will learn some traditional songs from different countries in this region, as well as learning a bit about the different countries where these dances and songs originated. We will even have one or two workshops with local dancers and musicians! Eastern European Folktale Fun Trs. Maureen and Laurie Who are the Baba Yaga, Kikimora, and Vodyanoy? In this course, you’ll learn about these and other famous characters from Eastern European folktales. You’ll explore their stories, uncover what the stories reveal about Eastern European culture, and create your own folktale-inspired project. You could choose to create a board game starring Russian fairy tale villains and heroes, a graphic novel or movie adaptation of a Ukrainian folktale, or anything else you can imagine! We’ll also visit the University of Pennsylvania to learn from an Eastern European folklore expert. -

Jennylynd James FOREWORD This book chronicles misadventures during a six and a half year stay in the Republic of Ireland. How did a person of Caribbean descent end up living and working in Ireland? It all began in 2004, when I left a lucrative food industry position in posh Westlake, California and travelled to Europe to get unique international experience in the food industry. I had interviewed for numerous positions in the United Kingdom, with no success. Then, by a stroke of luck, I managed to get an interview in Dublin. An Irish company recruiting for their UK office spotted my resumé and contacted me about a new Technical Manager’s post in their Dublin office. They flew me to Dublin for the interview and I was hired. After working with the company for a year and a half, I discovered the job was not what I expected. I then took off on another unique adventure starting my own food business. The Celtic Tiger was at its height. Irish were spending and travelling more than ever before. The sudden prosperity and affluence led people to expand their food tastes, well beyond the traditional meat and potatoes. I took advantage of this newfound interest in food and started a business to promote Caribbean food in Ireland. Running my business led me off the beaten track to many farmers markets, agricultural shows and food fairs. -
