Avalokiteshvara, Perceiver of the cries of the world, takes in Buddha, will be a Buddha, helps all to be Buddhas, is not separate from Buddha, Dharma, — being eternal, intimate, pure and joyful. In the morning, be one with Avalokiteshvara, In the evening, be one with Avalokiteshvara, whose heart, moment by moment, arises, whose heart, moment by moment, remains!

SONG OF THE JEWEL MIRROR AWARENESS

The Dharma of thusness It is like facing a jewel mirror; Is intimately conveyed by Buddha Form and image behold each other. Ancestors. You are not it; Now you have it. Yet it is you. Keep it well. Like a newborn child, Filling a silver bowl with snow, It is endowed with five aspects. Hiding a heron in the moonlight. No coming, no going, They are similar though not the same. No arising, no abiding. Side by side you can see the “Baba wawa” is there anything said or not? differences. In truth, this has no meaning, The meaning is not in the words, For the words are not yet clear. Yet one pivotal instant can reveal it. Like the six lines of the double split hexagram, Move and you are trapped; The relative and absolute integrate. Miss and you fall into confusion Piled up, they make three; and doubt. The complete transformation makes five. Turning away and touching are It is like the taste of the five-flavored herb, both wrong, Like a diamond thunderbolt. For it is like a massive fire. Wondrously embraced within the absolute, To depict it with complex words drumming and singing go together. Is to defile it. Penetrating the source and traveling the way; In the darkest night, You cover the territory and embrace the road. It is perfectly clear. Complications are auspicious; In the brilliance of dawn, Do not resist them. It remains hidden. It acts as a guide for beings. Its use removes all suffering. Although it is not created, It is not beyond words.

What is natural and inconceivable, Belongs With low aspirations, neither to delusion nor enlightenment. You will see jewel pedestals, fine clothing. Causes and conditions at this moment And with a sense of wonder, Shine completely in the silence. You will see black badgers and white So fine, it enters nowhere, bulls. So vast it exceeds all bounds. Yi, with his archer’s skill, A hairbreadth deviation Could hit the mark from a hundred paces. And you are out of harmony. But when arrow points meet head on, Through the teachings of sudden and How could it be a matter of skill? gradual, When the wooden man begins to sing, Different methods have arisen. The stone woman gets up to dance. Even though you master such teachings, This does not come by knowing, The truth keeps on escaping. Nor does it involve ideas. Sitting still, yet inwardly moving, Ministers serve their lords. Like a tethered colt, a trapped rat. Children obey their guardians. The Ancestors pitied them, Not obeying is not filial, And offered them the teachings. Failure to serve is of no help. According to their delusions, Practice invisibly, work intimately, They called black as white. Be the fool with no voice. When delusions disappear, For realizing true continuation, The natural mind reveals itself. Is called the host If you want to follow the ancient path, within the host. Please observe the Ancients of former times. Some try to attain the Buddha Way By gazing at a tree for ten eons They are like a tiger with tattered ears Or a hobbled horse.
