The Start to the Mosquito Season On an April trip to Hopkinton State Park we encountered swarms of baby mosquitoes upon our walk to the beach. We were able to stay there for about five minutes before we decided that there were more of them than there were of us and we headed back to the bus. I think that I swallowed at least a half dozen of them on the way back. Bocce They decided to join us for the ride back to Fairview, The bocce court has been raked and rolled. Mike’s Goodbye This is the last newsletter that I was able to contribute to. By the time you are reading this I will have left for my new position at Rosewood Manor in Harwich. Most of you knew my love for the Cape and plans on becoming a permanent resident in Brewster, but this move came sooner than expected. Rosewood is less than four miles from my house in Brewster so while it was a tough decision I feel that it is the right decision. I will miss my family from Fairview. While my stay at Fairview wasn’t long I was able to create a bond with most of the residents. While the Covid pandemic put a lot of strain on Fairview I hope that I was able to keep your spirits up. The position was well suited for my personality and I loved being able to entertain you. When we were doing the “trip” to Morocco in 2019 my daughter had come to Fairview to share her experiences there. I overheard her telling one of the residents “This is the first position that I have ever seen my dad in which he was truly happy.” I will be the Activities Director for a small facility. They are approved for 33 residents but currently have only 19. The residents are mostly in some stage of dementia. It will be a little bit of a challenge, but I think that I will be able to adapt to their needs and serve them well. I want to thank all of the Fairview family, both residents and staff, for making my time here so enjoyable. I wish you all good health and happiness. Sincerely, Mike 132 East Main Street Hopkinton, MA 01748
