Specification for Lapping Machine, Saw Package

(1) Detailed Specification for Lapping Polishing Machine:

Quantity: (1)

 Must provide a precision lapping machine with adjustable flatness control, complete with auto feed.  Provide a variable plate speed (0 to 70 rpm ) feature controllable from the main drive control panel  A main control panel, where processing time, and speed control, can easily be adjusted and set.  The machine shall be capable of single side lapping  The machine must be a table top unit.  The machine must possess in-situ automatic lapping with processor timer facility.  The machine must be equipped with an abrasive auto feed, with agitation to maintain the suspension of the slurry materials.  The system must include the following accessories: a. Cast lapping plates as required to accommodate each of the sample jigs. b. vacuum system (free standing or wall mountable) c. Rotary vacuum adaptors for Jigs d. Dust/Extraction enclosure to confine waste materials with user access door for ease of use e. Cast Iron Lapping Plate(s) Test Blocks with complementary loading weight f. Metallic Retaining Rings, of correct size for each specific , sized respectively with complementary pressure blocks g. Granite master flat block. h. Flat lapping gauges  Sample holders: Must provide (3) Precision Lapping Jigs with vacuum mounting system equipped with digital for handling: a. Multiple 27mm x 46mm slides or a combination of 27mm by 46 mm slides with 50mm by 75mm slides, or several 50mm by 75 mm slides - (2) b. A 100mm x 152mm slide (1) c. Protective containers for the jigs when not in use d. Metal or Wooden stand for use in loading slides onto the jig’s face.

 Must at least meet OSHA safety standards

(2) Detailed Specification for Trim Saw: Quantity: (1)

 Combination Slab/Trim saw:  Saw must be able to both slab larger sized samples and trim smaller blocks down to 200 microns +/- 15 microns. Saw must also have the following: a. Central Control Panel with emergency stop and feed in speed control settings. b. Blade size appropriate to accommodate the of 76mm by 127mm samples. c. Must be capable of holding multiple slides on the vacuum face of the slide holder at one time. d. Recirculation should be provided for reclamation of coolant e. Must have an automatic feed for mounted samples to pass into and through the blade. f. Must at least meet OSHA safety standards  If the saw is a bench top unit, the unit must meet the following conditions: a. The width of the unit cannot exceed 28 3/4 inches b. The weight of the machine must weigh less than 226 kg. (500 lbs)  If the saw cannot meet the bench top requirements provide a floor model unit meeting the following conditions: a. Provide a base capable of holding the weight of the saw, which allows space for a recirculation system to be placed below the unit b. Provide a means for mobility of the saw for cleaning and maintenance.

(3) Detailed Specification for Accessories: Quantity: (1)  Spring-loaded Manual Bonding unit  Unit must be capable of holding 101mm by 152 mm slide(s)

 Tools:  Must provide a complete set of tool-kits for maintenance of Lapping/polishing machine, saw, and Bonding unit.

(4) Utility Requirements:

 All equipment must be adaptable to industrial 208 volts (50/60 Hz), Three Phase format.

(5) Installation Set-up:

 Must provide installation and setup, to be performed by technical personnel  Must provide Owners’ Manuals, Maintenance Manuals, or other significant documents in the following formats: a. Bound paper b. CD, or DVD c. Digital

(6) Training:

 Must provide on-site, hands on training for our essential equipment users  Must provide a parts list for ordering/re-ordering consumable parts, and necessary replacement parts.  Available Technical Support (when necessary)

(7) Delivery Requirements:  Must provide Freight On Board (FOB) Destination means of shipment.  Shall provide at least a 1 year warranty on all parts.  Shipment of equipment within 12 weeks of confirmed awarding of contract.
