Régis et Philippe, sans eux, ce projet « PME » n’aurait sûrement jamais vu le jour, la thèse non plus. Vous avez su m’intégrer dans cette famille atypique que constitue HYDRECO, et permettre de mener à bien quasiment trois ans de « terrain ». Je réalise cette chance que j’ai d’avoir eu l’opportunité de faire partie de cette famille et de sillonner la Guyane. L’organisation, la logistique que cela demande, tout a été mis à notre disposition pour permettre de le faire dans les meilleures conditions, un grand merci. Sinopse: São apresentados dados cromossômicos de três espécies de Farlowella de diferentes localidades: F. cf. amazona proveniente das adjacências da cidade de Barcelos-AM, F. oxyrryncha do Igarapé do Sítio Agenor e F. schreitmuelleri do Igarapé Jundiá, ambos localizados no Município de Manaus- AM. Foram utilizados marcadores citogenéticos clássicos (coloração convencional, detecção de heterocromatina e regiões organizadoras de nucléolo, Ag-RON) e moleculares (Hibridização in situ fluorescente com sondas de DNAr 5S, DNAr 18S e sequências teloméricas) para inferir sobre os mecanismos de evolução cromossômica de Farlowella. A partir dos dados obtidos sugerimos que rearranjos cromossômicos não Robertsonianos estão envolvidos na evolução cariotípica desse gênero, inclusive na diferenciação de cromossomos sexuais. -

[email protected] 2 Friesenstr. 11, 45476 Muelheim, Germany, [email protected] Introduction The purpose of this paper is to present an updated list of freshwater fishes found in Argentina based on the available literature. Since the last list was published in 2003, most systematical and distributional changes were presented on www.pecescriollos.de and updates have been published frequently. In only 12 years the number of species reported from Argentina has increased from 379 to 515 and the mentioned accumulative updates at the end had reached 15 pages, becoming a little bit complex and cluttered when used as supplements to the list published by López et al. (2003). After receiving several incitements we finally decided to review the available data and elaborate the present contribution. As usual in the past years already, we will continue to frequently publish updates, offering the possibility to keep updated on the species of freshwater fishes from Argentina. The increased knowledge gained during these years was published by both, Argentinean researchers and scientists from other countries. Ichthyologists from Argentina contributed in the descriptions of dozens of new species, due to their professional focus especially from Astyanax, Crenicichla, the trichomyterids, and the loricariids. Also the reporting on new first records and the elimination of erroneous records were mainly done by Argentinians. Systematical changes as synonymyzations, revalidations and transfers to other genera were dominated by non-Argentinian researchers, especially ichthyologists from Brazil and the USA. -

Annotated Checklist of the Freshwater Fishes of Suriname
Annotated checklist of the freshwater fishes of Suriname by Jan H. MOL* (1), Richard P. VARI (2), Raphaël COVAIN (3, 4, 5), Philip W. WILLINK (6) & Sonia FISCH-MULLER (3) ABSTRACT. - Data derived from the literature supplemented by examination of specimens in collections show that 481 species of fish live in the fresh and brackish inland waters of Suriname, with 394 of these restricted to fresh waters. These 481 species represent 16 orders and 64 families. Orders with the largest numbers of freshwater species in the Surinamese inland fish fauna are the Siluriformes (157 species), Characiformes (147 species), Perciformes (40 species), Gymnoti- formes (21 species) and Cyprinodontiformes (21 species). At the family level, the Characidae has the greatest number of freshwater species (83 species), followed by the Loricariidae (60 species), the Cichlidae (30 species), the Callichthyidae (23 species), the Heptapteridae (19 species) and the Anostomidae (17 species). Present data indicate that 25 of the species are known solely from locations within Suriname and 89 species solely in Surinamese river systems including the Maro wijne/Mana and Corantijn watersheds which in part extend into French Guiana and Guyana, respectively. Of 481 total spe- cies, 187 (38.9%) were based on type series that originated within Suriname. Continued descriptions of new species from the inland waters of Suriname demonstrate that the present total most likely distinctly underestimates the specieslevel diversity of the fish fauna. In terms of species per square kilometer, the presently documented richness of the Surinamese freshwater fish fauna is comparable to, or even greater than, the richness of fish faunas of several other tropical South American countries. -

A nivel mundial, los principales abastecedores de estas especies para los mercados internacionales son Estados Unidos y algunos países del Sudeste Asiático como Indonesia y Singapur, sin embargo, un gran aumento en la participación se observa por parte de países de Latinoamérica como Colombia, Brasil, Perú y Venezuela, sobre la base de una fauna diversa y del atractivo ornamental, principalmente, de peces. Esta situación, sin embargo, es altamente dinámica, lo que se demuestra en la incorporación reciente de Marruecos y España, quienes se proyectan como grandes proveedores internacionales superando incluso a Estados Unidos. -
