The Cardiff portion of the festival ends with a screening of another Yuasa film, the much-requested Mind Game (2004), a film definitely sure to please fans of surreal and adventurous animation. Prof. Davide Giurlando Laureando Dario Silvestri Matricola 834743 Anno Accademico 2015 / 2016 要旨本論文は「萌え」という現象についてである。「萌え」とは、一般的に虚構の世界の中に登場するキャラクターを対象に感情的な反応を持つことを指す。この言葉がオタク文化で使うことがほとんどであるため、その感情の対象は一般にアニメ、漫画、あるいはテレビゲームのキャラクターである。にもかかわらず、それが持つ精神的な意味は非常に個性的で多種に及ぶのである。「萌え」という単語をこういった意味で使われるようになったのは、90 年代の半ば、インターネット上の掲示板で、オタク同士でアニメ、漫画などを語り始めた時期である。「萌え」は、「草」と「明るい」の語根から成っており、通常使用においては、「草木が芽を出す」という意味があるが、ここでは、もともと、「強い感情で燃える」という意味の「燃える」の使用法から生まれたのである。例えば、「綾波レイに燃える」といえば、「綾波レイのことが好きだ」という意味がある。なぜ「燃える」から「萌える」に至ったかについては、いくつの理由を挙げることができる。まず、日本のコンピュータの漢字変換機能が時に「燃」という漢字を「萌」に間違えて、オタクたちはそれを面白く感じ、敢えて「萌」という漢字を使い続けたということからである。そして、その感情の対象は若い少女のキャラクターが多数であり、「草木が芽を出す」という意味に似た雰囲気を感じたからでもある。さらに、当時オタクコミュニティで人気のあるキャラクター三人の名前に「萌」という漢字があったことも関係が深いのではないかという説もある。その後、2000 年代に至ると、オタク文化が一般文化に影響を与え、「萌え」という単語はオタクでない人も使い始め、「萌え」は「かわいい」の同義語となり、本来の意味を失った。「萌え」は小規模の現象に見えるかもしれないが、日本の文化、そして社会に与えた影響は大きく、それを研究対象にしたいと考えた。第一章は、オタクが何に萌えるかについてである。初めに、「美少女キャラクター」の誕生とその定義を述べる。東浩紀の「データベース理論」を基にして、彼が称する「萌え様相」をいくつか例挙げる。次に、「萌え要素」がいかに作品の中に実現する例として、「けいおん！」という漫画とアニメを分析する。 1 第二章では、「萌え」が「オタク市場」に与えた影響について述べる。オタク市場とは、つまりアニメ、漫画、ゲームなどのオタクを対象とした業界のことを言う。初めに、「制作委員会」というシステム解説し、それについて有名なアニメ監督の意見をいくつか述べる。次に、「萌え」が他分野への影響について。最後に、同人市場について。第三章では、「オタク」という言葉の誕生と歴史、そして「萌え」との関係について述べる。「オタク」は 80 年代に生まれたネガティブな意味の持つ呼称に過ぎなかったが、「宮崎勉事件」により、メディアを通じ社会に広く知られるようになった。この頃に生ま
