The win is a part of a 17-1-1 mark for the Panthers, leading to the NE-10 Regular Season title as well as the NE-10 Championship title fol- lowing a 2-1 victory against Le Moyne in the final game. Prior to winning the championship, the St. John’s graduate was honored as the NE-10 Coach of the Year. Posting a record of 13-5-3 in the 2015 season, Acquista led the Panthers to uncharted territory, as the team reached its first NE-10 Championship game in program history and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006, and the first in Division II since 1975. With a 9-2-2 record in NE-10 play, the team entered the playoffs at the No. 3 seed, defeating Le Moyne in the quarterfinals for the third straight year before knocking off Merri- mack to advance to the championship. In the final, the Panthers fell by a 1-0 score to Southern New Hampshire, but the team earned six All-Conference Adelphi Among the Northeast-10 Ranks and three NSCAA All-Region honors overall with James Thristino tabbed NE- Goals 10 Rookie of the Year. Caelan Heuber – 10 – 5th James Thristino – 9 – T6th 2014 was Acquista and the Panthers’ second season at the NCAA Division II level, and its fortunes were eerily similar to the previous year. Furthermore, Jordan Hibbert (’15) was Assists – 40 – 1st named one of 16 finalists for the 2014 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award. Goals per-game – 2.14 – 1st Goals Against Avg. – 0.42 - 1st Over Acquista’s first five years at the helm, he oversaw the final Division I seasons for the team. In this time, the squad claimed two ASC Tournament titles in 2009 and 2010 while reaching the playoffs in all five years. Acquista was honored as the ASC Coach of the Year three times, in 2008, 2009 and 2011 while coaching over two dozen All-Conference players. Acquista comes to Adelphi from St. Francis College (NY), where he held the position of head coach for the past five seasons. During that time, Acquista had his strongest season in 2004, guiding the Terriers to an 8-9-1 record and a fifth place finish in the Northeast Conference, including wins over Vermont, Stony Brook and Monmouth. Acquista’s coaching experience includes stints as an assistant coach at Hofstra University and as a volunteer assistant at St. John’s in addition to a posting as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Knights of the Premier Development League.
