  • Rock Album Discography Last Up-Date: September 27Th, 2021
Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

Blues, as a musical form, has had and continues to have a profound effect on the entire music industry, both in the United States and abroad. Blues constitute a rich cultural entity in its pure form; but its influence goes far beyond this-for itis the bedrock of jazz, the basis of much of folk and country music and it is closely akin to gospel. But finally and most importantly, blues and its derivatives- and the concept of soul-are major factors in today's pop music. In fact, it is no exaggeration to state flatly that blues, a truly American idiom, is the most pervasive element in American music COVER PHOTO today. Amidst humble origins in a two-story house outside of which Berry Gordy hung the sign, “Hitsville USA,” Motown encouraged America’s youth, urging them to look beyond racial divides and to simply sing and dance together in a time where the theme of unity was becoming increasingly important. Producing legends such as Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, Gladys Knight, and the Jackson Five, Motown truly created a new sound for the youth of America and helped shape the 1960s. Competing with the “British Invasion” and “the Protest Movement,” in 1960s music, Motown is often said to have had little or no impact on the political and social revolution of the time because Motown did not produce “message 4 music.” The 2006 film, Dreamgirls even depicts Gordy and Motown as hypocrites and race traitors.

“Prepare to Meet Thy God!” Holy, Harmless and Undefiled Who Can Stand? Study Guide 6 Copyright © 2021 by Christa Negley, PhD Mountain Refuge Ministries mountainrefugeministries.com Unless otherwise marked, Scripture is from the New King James Version®. Copyright © 1982 by Thomas Nelson. Used by permission. All rights reserved. Scripture marked KJV is from the King James Version. Introduction The incarnation of our beloved Lord and Savior is a subject that will challenge the greatest minds. Throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity, this profound topic will engage our mental powers, and even then, we will understand only a fraction of the love of God that motivated Him to give His dear Son to rescue the fallen race from the pit of sin. 1 “The study of the incarnation of Christ, His atoning sacrifice and mediatorial work, will employ the mind of the diligent student as long as time shall last; and looking to heaven with its unnumbered years, he will exclaim, ‘Great is the mystery of godliness!’ 1 Timothy 3:16” (GW 251). How can it be that the Creator of the universe, the omnipotent God adored and worshiped by the angels, consented to leave His beautiful home to come to this dark world filled with misery and pain? There is only one answer. It was love for His created beings. It was love which motivated Jesus to leave His heavenly courts to tabernacle with man. He was moved with compassion as He saw our lost, hopeless condition, and He was not content to remain in heaven while we were estranged from the Father’s house.

It tells of a woman desperately hoping for a southerly wind to blow her lover back home over the ocean to her. Kathleen Ferrier recorded what is perhaps the best-known version of the song in London in 1949. Track 3 Jamaica Farewell This track is a calypso tune about the beauty of the West Indian Islands. It was Belafonte who popularised the song outside the Caribbean Islands. Harry Belafonte, born Harold George Bellanfanti, Jr in Harlem, New York, From 1932 to 1940, he lived with his grandmother in her native country of Jamaica. In the 1940s he became interested in American Negro Theater.
