Sometimes in our spiritual lives we can get stuck in the FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT “me, myself and I” mentality where it’s all about me. We can lose sight of God the Father and what God can offer us in our MARCH 21, 2021 lives. In our Responsorial Psalm this weekend, we hear Psalm 51. In the psalm, we encounter the word "me" many times. Take a moment and pray with these powerful phrases: “create a clean heart in me” “have mercy on me, O God” “thoroughly wash me” “cleanse me” Monday, March 22 “create for me” 8:15 a.m. Dr. Kian Ho Bhe (John & Helen Deibel) “a steadfast spirit renew within me” 6:30 p.m. Donna Koehler (Tom & Patty Hercules) “cast me not out from your presence” “your Holy Spirit take not from me” Tuesday, March 23, St. Turibius of Mogrovejo “give me back the joy of your salvation” 8:15 a.m. Fritz Warren (Merzweiler Family) “a willing spirit sustain in me” 6:30 p.m. Carol Eubank (Mary Lou Swartz) Initially, I was struck by the selfishness of this prayer. However, when praying with it a few times, one can see it is Wednesday, March 24 not so much about "me" but David, the psalmist, is asking 8:15 a.m. David Long (11:00 Ushers) God to do these things in, with and through him. It is truly 6:30 p.m. Dorothy Finnin-Akins a humble prayer, because it takes humility to realize that we (Mary Lou Swartz) cannot offer ourselves mercy, cleansing, creation, renewal, sustenance, etc. God the Father can! I encourage you to Thursday, March 25, The Annunciation of the Lord approach the Heavenly Father in prayer this week with great 8:15 a.m. Betty Bozsik (Bernie Gnap) expectation that He can do these things in your life if you 6:30 p.m. Intentions of E. J. Akins Family humbly open yourselves up to (Mary Lou Swartz) Him. This is why I am so happy Friday, March 26 that this year is the year of St. 8:15 a.m. Theresia Ambach Joseph. Many have chosen to (Thomas & Lanna Smith) consecrate themselves to St. 6:30 p.m. Deceased of the Finnin Family Joseph this year. It has been a (Mary Lou Swartz) blessing to me to journey with you in this. For many, March 19 Saturday, March 27 8:15 a.m. The Neighbors We Serve was the consecration date to (The St. Vincent de Paul Society) make for St. Joseph as it was his 5:00 p.m. Nancy Bisesi (Carruthers Family) feast day. One of the blessings in doing the consecration, PALM SUNDAY according to Fr. Don Calloway, is that what St. Joseph offers us MARCH 28, 2021 is an image of the Father in our 7:30 am, 9:00 am, 11:00 am – Pro Populo lives. The more we get to know who St. Joseph was for Jesus, the more we can get to know who the Heavenly Father is for us. St. Joseph helps us to know SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR THE WEEK the Father more in our lives. Let’s Monday Dn 13:1-9, 15-17, 19-30, 33-62 or make it our mission to engage 13:41c-62; Jn 8:1-11 both the Heavenly Father and Tuesday Nm 21:4-9; Jn 8:21-30 our spiritual father, St. Joseph, Wednesday Dn 3:14-20, 91-92, 95; more and more this year!
