The census of 1841 shows him living at Ballajean, Lonan, and employed as an agricultural labourer. His age is given as 45 years, i.e. 45-9 and younger than his wife. In 1851 he is shown living at Ballamillgyn, Lonan, and now employed in the Laxey mines as a lead ore washer. His age is given as 62, two years older that his wife. His place of birth is given as Lonan. He died in 1858 and was buried at Lonan on the 2nd of November, when his age was given as 69 years. In the census of 1851 her age is given as 60 years and her birth place as Lonan. In 1861 she is still living at Laxey Village, Lonon, a widow aged 70 years, but her place of birth is given as Onchan. The census of 1871 has not yet been searched. There is a burial recorded at Lonan on the 16th March, 1874, for Elizabeth Arnold of Laxey Glen, aged 86 years, which would make her year of birth 1788.
