We must be diligent and progressive in our efforts to reduce this escalating area of criminal activity. It is at the forefront of my agenda during the next four years. New to the Attorney General’s Office is the Domestic Violence Division, a resource for law enforcement, prosecutors, judges and all other individuals or entities providing services to domestic violence victims within the State of Mississippi. This division brings a cohesiveness to the state’s efforts in fighting domestic violence, for which Mississippi ranks 2nd in the nation. I am proud to report to you that during the fiscal year, we retrieved almost $27 Million of embezzled and misused funds owed to the state.
