P a g e | 2 Introduction

Hatton Teaching School Alliance is based at the outstanding Lead school, Sir Christopher Hatton Academy, in . As a designated Teaching School we are a National Support School headed up by Victoria Bishop, a National Leader of Education (NLE). In addition to the support we offer from our NLE, our designated Specialist leaders of Education (SLE) provide support to schools across and surrounding counties. As an active part of the self- improving school system, where the sharing of skills and knowledge takes place, we have the aim of improving the quality of education that all young people receive.

Our SLEs all have experience of working to raise standards both in their own schools and beyond. The application and designation process ensures that they strictly meet the designation requirements with Senior Leaders and independent members on the interviewing board.

This guide gives you information about the NLE and our SLEs, their backgrounds and their areas of specialism. It also gives you information on how to apply to get support for your school, the costs involved and the support you would expect to receive.

This guide also briefly explains how to become an SLE if you are personally interested in applying for the role when the next application window opens. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like additional information, or for an informal chat about the support we could offer to your school.

SPECIALIST LEADER of EDUCATION (SLE)

Name: Chloe Fallady

Specialism: Early Years Foundation Stage

Main teaching phase: EYFS/Primary

I have been teaching since 2012 and have taught in both the EYFS and key stage one. Since 2014 I have been a member of senior management in two different schools, the first as the EYFS and Key Stage One leader in a Northampton town school and the second as the EYFS lead in a larger village school. I have also worked with leaders and teachers from other EYFS settings to support them in their roles.

Although I have worked in and led Key Stage One, I am passionate about Early Years education (and can talk about it at great length!). I have developed a team in my own school who are confident to engage and challenge children. I enjoy meeting with other practitioners and sharing good practice, and have experience in coaching other leaders and teachers who need support. I am confident to offer support in areas such as: learning environments, phonics, data gathering and analysis, observations, moderation and assessment.

Recently, I have supported other leaders and teachers in:

 Accurate assessment in the EYFS  Observing in the EYFS  Data analysis and action planning  Implementing a reading scheme and assessment materials  Documenting childrens’ work  Self-assessment strategies

I have also:

 Led moderation sessions and looked at quality of evidence  Worked with a colleague to create an EYFS writing exemplification which has been shared with other Wellingborough schools

Name: Keren Gunn Specialism: Leadership of CPD PSHE Main teaching phase: Secondary

I have been teaching in Northamptonshire for over 20 years, beginning my career as an English Teacher and moving rapidly into leadership roles as Second in English and later as Head of Sixth Form and Head of English.

Looking for new challenges, I moved to SCHA in 2003 as Whole School Literacy Coordinator and my career took a different direction as I took on leadership of whole school PSHE and Citizenship, later leading SMSC and the wider enrichment curriculum.
