www.black-torrington-benefice.org.uk The Summer Term at Bradford Primary School…..

The Summer Term has carried on being packed with fantastic enrichment opportunities as we make the most of the better weather and the chance to use the wonderful outdoors and our local environment.

As part of their current topic Class 1 held a Medieval Day. The children came to school dressed up as princesses, knights and even a unicorn! They went to knight school where they rode horses in races and had a go at some jousting and threw bean bags at targets. After having their photos taken they made a castle photo frame. Finally, they made bracelets from shiny gemstones or made a pattern on card for their wall as well as jester hats. They read stories too and told jokes whilst wearing their jester hats

The Year 5 & 6’s travelled to Croyde beach on Friday 15th June for the annual Oceanfest school’s day. The children took part in a range of activities throughout the day including Zumba, Beach Flags and Code Breaking. They were very lucky to have good weather all day and had a fantastic time

From Wednesday 20th to Friday 22nd June the Year 6’s travelled to Bristol for their residential. Across the 3 days they were incredibly busy, going to ‘We the Curious’ and watching a planetarium show, a boat trip down the Bristol Quay, a great day out at Bristol Zoo followed by a guided tour of the Clifton Suspension Bridge finishing off with a tour of the SS Great Britain on the last day before travelling home. They definitely packed lots into their time away having a fantastic time.

On a very sunny afternoon on Monday 9th July we hosted this year’s Federation Sports Day. We were joined by children and family members from & Black Torrington Primary Schools. All the children took part in running, shot put, javelin, sack race and egg & spoon events and were all presented with medals & certificates at the end.

We are now getting ready for the end of term and celebrating our fantastic Year 6 pupils who are preparing to leave. It’s been an amazing year at Bradford School so well done and thank you to all the children, staff, parents and volunteers!!!

Best Wishes Lisa Paton, Primary Lead for the Holsworthy Cluster, Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust
