1- Hispanic culture and current affairs:

From now until September, download and listen to the news in Spanish speaking countries at least once a week- some options below:

Choose 1 short news article per week:

1) read it

2) annotate it and write down all new vocabulary,

3) write a short summary and give your opinion on the article and

4) prepare a presentation for September on one article that you have liked.

2- Hispanic film

Watch a Spanish film (suggestions will follow) and prepare a power point presentation on the main characters, plot and your opinion of the film ( max 200 words)

- Almodovar: “Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios”, “Átame”, “All about my mother”. - Emilio Martínez Lázaro: “Ocho apellidos vascos” “Ocho apellidos catalanes”.

3- Hispanic literature

Read a short novel in Spanish. Write a short résumé of the storyline, and your opinion on the book (90-120 words) some ideas (you can choose your own one too),

- 'El Alquimista' by Paulo Coelho both the vocabulary and grammar are simple and easy to understand. - 'El túnel' psychological thriller was written in 1948 by Argentine writer Ernesto Sabato - “Cuentos de la selva” by Uruguayan author Horacio Quiroga. - “Papelucho” by Chilean author Marcela Paz, is a series of twelve books about an eight-year- old middle class boy called Papelucho - the prose is simple and easy to understand.

4 - Spanish Grammar

- Revise all the grammar from Y11. - Complete bridging work on SMHW. - AQA Spanish Grammar and Translation book. Complete the “Transition” chapter. - AQA Spanish Grammar and Translation book. Complete “section 1” if you are up for a challenge.

5 -Spanish TV programmes on Netflix ( some ideas)
