Although aspects of indigenous culture, which have been grouped into four spheres, namely Fang-Beti, Grassfields, Sawa and Sudano-Sahelian, are dotted all over the country in multiple ways, Cameroon cannot still boast of a national culture emblem. The purpose of this article is to define the major components of a Cameroonian national culture and further identify which of them can be used as an acceptable domestic cultural device. -

May God reward your love for Him in glorious ways. The encounter of the Israelites with the Amalekites in Exodus 17: 8-13 readily comes to mind whenever one thinks about what God can use us to achieve through partnership in Missions. Moses, Aaron and Hur stayed back at home while Joshua led the army to the battle field. Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill where they could get a good view of the battle field. As long as Moses held up his hands holding the staff, the Israelites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, Aaron and Hur took a stone and put it under Him and he sat on it. Both of them (Aaron and Hur) then proceeded to holding his hands up- one on one side and the other on the other side- so that Moses’ hands with the staff of God remained steady till sunset when the battle was finally won. No one took the glory as all glory belongs to God and God only. As will enter the New Year 2020, let us enter into this partnership with God of Missions. We are to partner through regular intercession, giving, going and sending. The battle will be won sooner than expected if we can partner together as members of God’s family and co- labourers with Christ. -

Long Distance International Caregiving to Elderly Parents Left Behind: A Case of Nigerian Adult Children Immigrants in USA. The intent of this qualitative, grounded theory study was to understand why the Nigerian (Igbo) adult immigrants in the United States provide long distance international caregiving to their elderly parents left behind in Nigeria, the challenges they encounter, and their views on long-term service care. This study was grounded in semi-structured interviews of 20 Igbo adult immigrants residing in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metropolis. Analysis of the literature demonstrates a lack of existent topic on long distance international caregiving to elderly parents left behind in Nigeria. Findings show that reasons for Igbo adult children immigrants providing care to their elderly parents left behind stem from filial obligation, immigrant’s position in the family, perceived vulnerability of parents, and lack of government support. Also because of cultural expectations, the participants felt obligated to reciprocate to the care their elderly parents gave to them when they were growing up. -

MISSION ATLAS PROJECT AFRICA NIGERIA Basic Facts Name: The Federal Republic of Nigeria with its capital in Abuja Population: Population has grown from 107, 286,046 in 1997 to 111,506,095 in 2000 and to 126,635,626 in 2002. With a growth rate of around + 2.61% the population will reach over 138,698, 398 by 2010 and 183,041,179 by 2025. Population density stands at 116 persons per sq. Kilometer or 301 persons per sq. mile Age structure stands 0-14 years 43.71%; 15-64 years 53.47%; 65 + years 2.8% (2001 estimate). The birth rate stands at 39.69 births per 1000 population and the death rate at 13.91 per 1000 population. Infant mortality rate is 73.34 deaths per 1000 live births. Life expectancy is 51.07 years for both men and women Around 5.06% of the population suffers from HIV/AIDS with over 2.7 million persons infected. Government: Nigeria follows a Federal Republic form of government with a president elected by the voters to a four year term. The legislature is bicameral with a House of Representatives composed of 360 members and a Senate composed of 109 senators. -
