Although aspects of indigenous culture, which have been grouped into four spheres, namely Fang-Beti, Grassfields, Sawa and Sudano-Sahelian, are dotted all over the country in multiple ways, Cameroon cannot still boast of a national culture emblem. The purpose of this article is to define the major components of a Cameroonian national culture and further identify which of them can be used as an acceptable domestic cultural device. -

May God reward your love for Him in glorious ways. The encounter of the Israelites with the Amalekites in Exodus 17: 8-13 readily comes to mind whenever one thinks about what God can use us to achieve through partnership in Missions. Moses, Aaron and Hur stayed back at home while Joshua led the army to the battle field. Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill where they could get a good view of the battle field. As long as Moses held up his hands holding the staff, the Israelites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, Aaron and Hur took a stone and put it under Him and he sat on it. Both of them (Aaron and Hur) then proceeded to holding his hands up- one on one side and the other on the other side- so that Moses’ hands with the staff of God remained steady till sunset when the battle was finally won. No one took the glory as all glory belongs to God and God only. As will enter the New Year 2020, let us enter into this partnership with God of Missions. We are to partner through regular intercession, giving, going and sending. The battle will be won sooner than expected if we can partner together as members of God’s family and co- labourers with Christ. -

Accepted 13 February, 2012 The recurrence of ethnicity and citizenship question generate the debate whether citizenship in Nigeria is inclusive. This problem is very topical in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State. Sardauna Local Government Area which is located in south-east of Taraba, north-east Nigeria was part of the former British Northern Cameroon that voted to join Nigeria after the 1961 plebiscite. The people in Sardauna Local Government Area, apart from the Fulani who speak a Senegambia language, fulfude, every other ethnic group in the area speak Bantu and semi Bantu classic. They share largely similar history, culture, tradition and intermixed religion. Despite these similarities, inter-ethnic relationship has been played down by elite’s manipulation of ethnicity and citizenship. This paper argues that elites does this by exploiting proximate causes of conflict such as poverty, unemployment, land tenure issue, group identity while struggling for power in the primitive accumulation process. The paper concludes that unless ethnic groups in the area appreciate their history, redefine their socio-economic and political relations, and develop a sense of nationality to resolve conflict through non-violent means; the problem will continue to undermine peaceful coexistence and development in the area. -

												Information Kit for 2015 General Elections
INFORMATION KIT FOR 2015 GENERAL ELECTIONS 1 FOREWARD The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has come a long way since 2011 in making the Nigerian electoral process transparent, as a way of ensuring that elections are free, fair and credible and that they measure up to global best standards of democratic elections. We have done this not only by reforms that have been in the electoral procedures, but also in the way informationon the process is made available for public use and awareness. Even though the yearnings of many Nigerians for a perfect electoral process may not have been fulfilled yet, our reforms since 2011 has ensured incremental improvement in the quality and credibility of elections that have been conducted. Beginning with some of the Governorship elections conducted by INEC since 2013, the Commission began to articulate Information Kits for the enlightenment of the public, especially election observers and journalists who may need some background information in order to follow and adequately undertstand the electoral process. With the 2015 General Elections scheduled to take place nationwide, this document is unique, in that it brings together electoral information about all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). I am optimistic that this kit will contribute to the body of knowledge about the Nigerian electoral system and enhance the transparency of the 2015 elections.
