Revised : July 1, 2017, Accepted: Aug 20, 2017, Published: 1 Sept 2017 DOI : 10.24273/jgeet.2017.2.3.410 Abstract Onzon-Kabani area is located on the western border of generally N-S trending Mogoke Metamorphic Belt. Many artisanal and small-scale gold mines were noted sincelast three decades. Gold mineralization is mainly hosted in marble and occasionally observed in gneiss.Host rocks chemistry is mainly controlled by hydrothermal activities and regional metamorphism. The compatible elements of host rocks are relatively more mobile than incompatible elements during alteration and deformation. Variety of plutonic rocks such as leucogranite, syenite and biotite granite are intruded into older metamorphic rocks. In ACF diagram, leucogranite and syenite are placed in S-type granite field and biotite granite occupied in I-type granite field. Mineralization is observed as fracture filling vein and less amount of disseminated nature in marble unit. Mineralogically, gold areassociated with other base metal such as pyrite, galena, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite. Hydrothermal alteration halos are developed as a narrow zone in the peripheral of hydrothermal conduits from proximal to distal; 1) silicic, 2) sericite-illite, and 3) propylitic alteration. In place, silicic altered zone is rich in SiO2, Al2O3, and K2O. Moreover, concentrations of S, Cu, Zn, and Pb are more than any other alteration zones. The CaO is gradually increase to least altered zone where wt% of loss of ignition (LOI)also increase significantly to least-altered samples (marble). Some fluid boiling characteristics of vein textures and fluid inclusion petrography are also observed in hydrothermal system of research area. The homogenization temperature (Th) of quartz vein samples are 159°C to 315°C and salinity are 0.88 to 12.51 wt% of NaCl equivalent. This research focused to describe the geochemical characteristics of metamorphic rock-hosted gold deposit in Onzon-Kanbani area. The area is mainly underlain by high-grade metamorphic units and intrusive rocks. Gold-sulphide bearing quartz veins are predominantly hosted in gneisses and marbles. Numerous faults striking N, NNE, ENE and E to ESE with moderate to steep dips occurred in the area. The veins are characterized by banded, colloform, cockcade, breccia and some vuggy textures. The vein-related alteration is characterized by silicification, sericitization and chloritization from the inner to the outer zones. Principal metallic minerals are pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, arsenopyrite in addition to electrum. The mineralogy of the vein is recognized into three paragenetic stages. Stage 1 is pre-mineralization stage. Stage 2 is main mineralization stage and stage 3 is post-ore carbonate Abstract stage. Quartz with minor sulfide, mainly pyrite was deposited during stage 1. Precious and base metals were precipitated during stage 2. In this stage, adularia is common. Gold and silver are more enriched in the veins containing abundant adularia than virtually quartz rich veins. In stage 3, the veins are barren. Bullion fineness data of the whole area display a wide range of fineness (416-875).

Artisanal and small-scale gold operations started here three decades ago on gold mineralization hosted in marble and gneiss. Mineralization occurs as fracture-filling veins of several types: gold-bearing quartz vein, base metal quartz-carbonate vein, and carbonate base metal sulfides vein. Three types of hydrothermal alteration zones develop from the proximal to distal zone of hydrothermal conduit: silicic, sericite-illite and propylitic alteration. Alteration mineral assemblages consist of quartz, calcite, sericite, adularia, epidote, chlorite, illite and smectite which are typical of neutral pH hydrothermal fluid. The presence of adularia and calcite within veins indicate boiling event of near-neutral pH condition. Common vein textures of quartz and calcite are banded, crustiform, bladed calcite, lattice, mosaic or jigsaw, cockade, comb and zonal. Boiling-related mineral textures (e.g. banded, bladed and lattice) and fluid inclusion characteristics of coexisting liquid-rich and vapor-rich fluid inclusions have been identified in mineralized samples.

    Mandalay University of Distance Education Research Journal Vol. 6, No. 1, 2015 A Geographical Study on Population Density in Kyaukse Township (1999-2014) Yu Yu Swe 1 Abstract Kyaukse Township lies in the Dry Zone of Central Myanmar. Topography of Kyaukse Township can be divided into Kyaukse Plain and the Yeyaman Range. Kyaukse is one of the densely populated townships in the Central Myanmar. The factors: (1) getting irrigation water from the Zawgyi and Panlaung Rivers; (2) lying on flat fertile alluvial plain, encourage the development and productivity of agriculture and population growth in Kyaukse Township. Population density of Kyaukse Township depends a little or more upon topography and agricultural condition. Therefore, the density patterns of Kyaukse Township are mostly concentrated on the flat plain regions. In this research, the population density and changing pattern of population centers are analyzed by the population centroid method. The results show that population centres of Kyaukse Township has been moving toward the southeast during the 1999-2014 year. According to the result by the population centroid method, today mean population center of Kyaukse Township is at the intersection of 96˙9' 32" East Longitude and 21˙34' 38" North Latitude. Most of the people are found gradually shifted towards the southeast direction from the center of Kyaukse Township. Many cultivated lands in the southeast of the township have been changed into residential areas. Hence, rural dwellers have been shifting towards the southeast from the point of the 1999.     アジア・アフリカ地域研究 第 20-1 号 2020 年 9 月 Asian and African Area Studies, 20 (1): 65–91, 2020 How the Landless Households Survive in Myanmar’s Central Dry Zone: Focusing on the Role of Interlinked Credit Transaction between Toddy Palm Climbers and Traders Hnin Yu Lwin,* Okamoto Ikuko** and Fujita Koichi*** Abstract Myanmar has a large number of rural landless households, even in the Central Dry Zone (CDZ) which does not have extensive rice cultivation. A hypothesis which explains it is that the palm sugar (jaggery) production industry has historically absorbed the labor in this zone. Although the industry has been in decline in recent years due to the sluggish demand growth for jaggery and a lack of palm climbers, in some areas the industry is still active. This study, based on the data from a village in the CDZ, shows the high labor absorptive power of the jaggery industry and how the landless palm climbers make a living by renting palm trees from farmers and selling jaggery to traders. Our focus is on the special credit relations between the climbers and jaggery traders. Their interlinked transactions as sellers and buyers of jaggery and as debtors and creditors has continued for generations. The credit is mainly extended during the lean season for consumption purposes and repaid throughout the next production season of jaggery. Money for purchasing foodstuff and other necessities by the climbers is given priority before repayment. The whole system functions to ensure minimum subsistence of the climbers. The estimated implicit interest rate of 3.4% per month is lower than the normal rates charged by local moneylenders.
