Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa Daenggi merupakan aksesoris kepala yang dipakai oleh masyarakat korea pada zaman Joseon dan memiliki makna sosial budaya di dalamnya. Daenggi memiliki berbagai jenis, ukuran, bahan pembuatan, warna, dan motif bordiran yang menggambarkan status social. Untuk golongan yangban biasanya terdapat motif daun emas, dan untuk rakyat biasa umumnya menggunakan Daenggi tanpa bordiran. Kata Kunci : Daenggi, Dinasti Joseon, Aksesoris Kepala, Korea ABSTRACT Nama : Tsanyadana Manar Nafisah Program studi : Korean Language Judul : Variety of Daenggi Accessories in The Joseon Era By using descriptive qualitative method this paper tried to describe hair accessories Daenggi. Daenggi is a headpiece worn by Korean since the Joseon era and it’s had spacific social cultural meaning. Daenggi has various types, sizes, materials, colors, and patterns that represent social status. Specially for the yangban is use the gold leaf pattern. Meanwhile for the folk is use Daenggi without embroidery. Keywords: Daenggi, Joseon Dynasty, Hair Accessories, Korea KATA PENGANTAR Puji syukur penulis panjatkan atas ke hadirat Allah SWT yang telah memberikan rahmat dan karunia-Nya sehingga penulis dapat menyelesaikan karya tulis akhir yang berjudul “Ragam Aksesoris Daenggi Pada Zaman Joseon". Latar Belakang Setiap negara memiliki karakteristiknya masing-masing, salah satunya karakteristik itu dapat dilihat dari cara berpakaian. Pakaian juga memiliki unsur keindahan seperti halnya seni. Sejak zaman dahulu pakaian bukan hanya sebagai pelindung tubuh dari udara panas dan udara dingin, melainkan pakaian juga memiliki makna dalam kebudayaan (Dharmika,1988). Makna dari sebuah pakaian dapat diartikan sebagai status sosial ataupun makna yang berupa harapan-harapan yang baik yang dipercayai masyarakat kala itu disesuaikan dengan kepercayaan- kepercayaan tertentu yang dianut masyarakatnya. Salah satu bangsa yang memiliki seni dalam berpakaian pada zaman dahulu adalah Korea. Sama halnya dengan Indonesia, Korea juga memiliki pakaian tradisional yang digunakan masyarakatnya pada zaman dahulu. Masyarakat Korea menggunakan pakaian tradisional Hanbok pada zaman dahulu, dan terus melestarikannya hingga

The result of a partnership between the Seoul-based Arumjigi Culture Keepers Foundation and the Asian Art Museum, this original exhibition introduces American audiences to the incomparable artistry and the living legacy of Korean dress. Couture Korea — whose title borrows from the French to convey Korea’s comparable tradition of exquisite, handcrafted tailoring — weaves together courtly costume from centuries past with the runways of today’s fashion capitals.   • The Hangul Characters
    The Korean language is classified as a member of the Ural-Altaic family (other members of this family include the Mongolian, Finnish, and Hungarian languages.) Until the early 1400s, most documents were written in classical Chinese characters (known in Korean as Hanja). As the idiographs are difficult to learn, only the educated people could read and write. King Sejong, the 4th ruler of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910), set up a special committee of scholars in 1443 to create a new writing system specifically suited to the Korean language. The result was Hangul (meaning 'the one script'). It originally contained 28 symbols, although 4 have dropped out of use. The alphabet has 10 vowels and 14 consonants. The consonants represent the simplified outlines of the parts of the mouth and tongue used to pronounce them. The vowels are associated with elements of the philosophy of the Book of Changes. In 1994, Discovery magazine described Hangul as the most logical language writing system in the world. The simplicity of Hangul led Korea to become one of the most literate countries in the world. U.S. novelist Pearl Buck said that Hangul is the simplest writing system in the world and likenedKing Sejong to Leonardo da Vinci. Even though Hangul is a system of phonetic symbols, it is categorized as new level of feature system, the first and the only in the world. On Oct. 1, 1997, UNESCO designated Hunminjeongeum as world archive property. Koreans commemorate the creation of Hangul each year on October 9. Shoudel DeKalb, Illinois Fall 2019 HONORS CAPSTONE ABSTRACT This paper is about the fashion shift urban Korean women made from the traditional hanbok (한복) to Western-style clothing in the colonial period (1910-1945). In this paper, I argue that urban Korean women shifted their fashion from traditional hanbok (한복) to Western- style clothing because of American missionaries and internal social changes rather than influences from Japan. For this paper, I looked at translated primary sources as I do not read Korean. These sources include magazine articles, cartoons, pictures, interviews with Korean women who were in colonial Korea at some point in their life, and missionary books that were written about colonial Korea. In addition to these, I looked at secondary sources that dealt with Japanese influence, American missionaries, and internal social changes. This paper is significant because understanding a population’s fashion and the changes it undergoes can give us insight into their lives and how they felt about certain topics like religion, politics, and new ideas, which are all discussed in this paper. This paper also highlights the significance of learning about the history of women, a subject that is too many times dismissed, belittled, and ignored. 1 In 1910 the Joseon dynasty ended as Japan took control of Korea, still one country at this point in time, and made it a colony of the Japanese Empire that was expanding more and more.

    113 BAB V PENUTUP A. Kesimpulan Hasil dari penciptaan karya ini berupa 8 set busana dengan berbagai warna dan makna. Setiap busana memiliki kegunaan tambahan tersendiri. Kegunaan tambahan yang dimaksudkan misalnya busana tersebut dapat digunakan untuk acara yang berbeda dengan memakai atau tidak memakai jeogori. Salah satu contohnya adalah busana yang berjudul bersemi dapat digunakan untuk ke kantor selain kegiatan sehari-hari. Meskipun penciptaan karya yang dibuat adalah busana kasual, tetapi dapat digunakan untuk acara tertentu seperti prewedding atau pesta pernikahan seperti busana pertama dan kedua. Busana kasual gaya hanbok kombinasi motif sakura dan lurik ini diwujudkan dengan teknik batik tulis. Teknik pewarnaan yang diterapkan yaitu teknik colet dan tutup celup. Zat pewarna yang digunakan untuk teknik colet ialah remasol, sedangkan untuk teknik tutup celup dengan napthol dan indigosol. Karya yang dibuat berupa satu set busana yang terdiri dari dress dan jeogori atau celana, atasan, dan jeogori. Busana ini sebagai bentuk kritik kepada orang atau golongan yang membedakan-bedakan orang lain dengan memandang status sosialnya. Salah satu cara untuk menyampaikan pesan kepada orang atau golongan yang biasa mendiskrimnasi orang lain melalui karya ini. Perubahan busana yang awalnya sarat dengan pemaknaan pembedaan status dan kepangkatan menjadi busana yang mampu dipakai oleh orang yang berstatus apapun. Pemakaian busana ini tidak hanya boleh digunakan oleh golongan tertentu, melainkan siapapun dan darimanapun tanpa memandang status mereka. Busana ini juga sangat sesuai dengan masyarakat yang ditargetkan, yaitu remaja putri dan wanita dewasa muda berusia 15 hingga 30 tahun. Terlihat melaui respon dari model peragaan busana ini yang didominasi oleh remaja putri usia perkuliahan. Antusias mereka ketika pertama kali melihat busana ini tercermin melalui ekspresi wajah dan ucapan kekaguman yang mereka katakan.
