MAY - A 375 ha stand in Farnham Common located just north of Slough that is owned by the 13th Corporation of London and known for its ancient beech and oak pollards Evening group dinner Overnight: Slough

AM: Alive Holt Research Station, Farnham; Overview of UK Forestry & MAY Forest Research Program(s) of 14th PM: Visit to Old Sarum Neolithic/Iron age site ou tside of Salisbury

Overnight: Salisbury

AM: Stourhead Western Estate - The Hoare family owns and operates t he FSC certied Continuous Cover Forest from MAY which they produce some 3,000 m3 of conifer and 600 m3 of deciduous timber per 15th year. The estate has been in the family for over 200 years but has existed since before the Norman Conquest PM: Travel to Charl estown - Overnight: historic Charlestown (where historical lm scenes including the Poldark series are shot)

AM: Join the Royal Forestry Society on its AGM Tour of the Duchy of Cornwall forests estate

MAY - Visit to historic Restormel C astle (established in 1337 by Edward the 3rd as the seat of the 16th Duchy of Cornwall); a walk through the state forest, including the "Canadian Douglas r" plantation; and lunch at the Duchy nursery PM: Boconnoc Estate managed by th e National Trust - Boconnoc Estate established in the mid-18th century is consider ed to be the best "old-growth, southern-oceanic oak woodland" in the south- Overnight: Charlestown

AM: Dartmoor National Park, - The core aim of Forestry Commission in Dar tmoor is to produce woodlands with increased conservation and landscape benets whilst maintaining a viable timber output. The long-term aims of management are to continue the substantial timber production while increasing MAY resilience to climate, pest and disease risks, and to deliver the forest for people and nature. The 17th area is largely managed for spruce with some broadleaved species such as birch.

PM: Perrie Hale Nursery, Honiton - Perrie Hale produces a broad range of c onifer and broadleaved species in a variety of container sizes for domestic and woodland plantations

Overnight: Wells/ area DRAFT AM: Westonbirt Arboretum, Tetbury (Cotswold region) - Dating from the 1850s, Westonbirt is a historic, Victorian picturesq ue landscape, and internationally important tree collection managed by the UK Forestry Commission. Established MAY by Robert Holford, a wealthy Victorian landowner, it now boasts approximately 2,500 different 18th types of trees from around the world

PM: Visit historic city of Bath; re turn to Slough Overnight: Slough

AM: Kew Royal Botanic Gardens, Richmond (London) - A guided tour of the internationally renowned garden/arboretum s in the world by Tony MAY 19th Kirkham, Kew arborist

PM: Return to Slough; evening dinner and speaker Overnight: Slough

MAY 20th Departure back to Canada
