June 28-29, 1993, Bethesda, Maryland. I served as a trainer and instructor in a session for preparing minority investigators to submit successful grant applications.

May 19-20, 1994, Bethesda, Maryland. I served as a trainer and instructor in a follow- up session for preparing minority investigators to submit successful grant applications.

June 8-14, 1994, Buenos Aires, Argentina. I spoke on HIV and social linkage at the International Congress of Psychiatrists in Rio Hondo. I also gave an impromptu talk on qualitative research at the University of Buenos Aires as part of their two-day national meetings on ethnography and qualitative research. I also conducted a workshop on grant writing and planning of research for the Fundación Gingko Biloba.

July 25, 1994, Bethesda, Maryland. I presented an invited paper on the application of results in qualitative research for an NIH-wide meeting organized by a consortium of institutes.

September 26-28, 1994, Rockville, Maryland. I participated in a meeting sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse of trans-Andean nations (Bolivia, Colombia,
