Pontus Tidemand gewann bereits 2017 die WRC2-Kategorie für ŠKODA Motorsport, 2018 holte ŠKODA Werksfahrer Jan Kopecký (CZE) den Titel. Der tschechische Rekord-Rallye- Meister ist beim WM-Finale zusammen mit Beifahrer Jan Hloušek (CZE) Tidemands Teamkollege in einem weiteren Toksport ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo. In der WRC3-Kategorie richten sich alle Augen auf Kajetan Kajetanowicz/Maciej Szczepaniak (POL/POL), die sich dort den Titel sichern wollen. Der frisch gekürte ERC1 Junior Rallye-Europameister Oliver Solberg (SWE) und Beifahrer Aaron Johnston (IRL) sowie Andreas Mikkelsen/Anders Jæger (NOR/NOR) treten in der WRC3-Kategorie ebenfalls mit einem ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo an. Für den letzten Lauf zur FIA Rallye-Weltmeisterschaft ist die Rekordzahl von 51 Nennungen an RC2-Rallye- Fahrzeugen eingegangen. Auf der Liste stehen 31 FABIA im Rallye-Trim, damit ist ŠKODA erneut die mit Abstand stärkste Marke im Feld. Der tschechische Rekord-Rallye-Meister Jan Kopecký ist hoch motiviert und hat sich für seine WM-Rückkehr viel vorgenommen: „Ich habe von Toksport WRT das Angebot erhalten, die ACI Rallye Monza zu bestreiten, die ausschließlich auf Asphalt ausgetragen wird. Ich freue mich, wieder mit Pontus Tidemand in einem Team zu fahren. Er kämpft nach dem Titelgewinn 2017 um seine zweite WRC2-Meisterschaft. Nachdem ich ihn 2018 besiegen konnte, fahren wir mit der technischen Unterstützung von ŠKODA Motorsport diesmal gemeinsam für das Team von Toksport WRT.“ Dank einer cleveren Strategie und konstanten Leistungen feierte Tidemand in der Saison 2020 bereits drei Siege in der WRC2-Kategorie und reist als Tabellenführer nach Monza. Andreas Mikkelsen kehrte kürzlich im Rahmen der FIA Rallye-Europameisterschaft hinter das Lenkrad eines ŠKODA zurück und gewann den vorletzten EM-Lauf in Ungarn. Bei der ACI Rallye Monza steuert er mit Beifahrer Anders Jæger einen ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo des Eurosol Racing Team Ungarn, Teamkollegen sind Emil Lindholm/Mikael Korhonen aus Finnland. Das polnische Team um Kajetan Kajetanowicz und Maciej Szczepaniak ist derzeit Dritter im WRC3-Championat. Die ACI Rallye Monza hält 16 Sonderprüfungen mit einer Gesamtlänge von 241,14 Kilometern bereit. Die Rallye beginnt am Donnerstag (3. Dezember) mit einer kurzen Wertungsprüfung im Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, bevor am Freitag (4. Dezember) auf dem Gelände der Formel-1-Rennstrecke noch einmal fünf Prüfungen stattfinden. Am Samstag führt die Rallye über weitere sieben Wertungsprüfungen auf Landstraßen nördlich von Monza, am Sonntag fällt auf den verbleibenden Prüfungen in Monza die Entscheidung. Inside are details of the new eighth and final round of this year’s FIA World Rally Championship, the planned calendar for the 2021 WRC, plus an update on some of the recent regulation changes. From a Regional Rally perspective, we are happy that the FIA Middle East Rally Championship title will be awarded in 2020 following a change to the points-scoring system. We are also humbled by the efforts of the Rally of Lebanon organisers to keep moving ahead with their event in November, despite the devastating explosion in Beirut in August and the suffering and disruption that it has caused. Continuing the Regional Rally theme, we are enthused by the progress of Rally3 with the first car, a Ford Fiesta Rally3 from M-Sport Poland, coming to life during a summer of test and development. An update on the work undertaken by the Rally Safety Task Force and how it helped with the successful running of three events in Croatia, San Marino and Portugal can be found in this edition. Everyone in the Rally Department is very proud that the Sporting Regulations for FIA Rally Star have been approved with momentum really building up following the publication of a detailed set of guidelines to help ASNs around the world organise the initial talent detection events. FIA Rally Star will help to uncover and nurture future world champions by encouraging mass participation in the sport at grassroots level.

Before I underline the team’s hopes and expectations for this event, I wish to acknowledge all the hard work that’s gone into putting on this rally in such a short amount of time. The efforts of AKK Sports and all the volunteers, particularly in the context of COVID-19, has really impressed me so a big thank you to them. It’s fair to say we showed our limits on Rallye Monte-Carlo and found ourselves licking our wounds and trying to get ahead. Unfortunately, it didn’t work there and after making some changes to our approach we start the second round of the season hoping it will be much better than the first. Having wished a fond farewell to Carlos del Barrio after Monte as he prepared for the next chapter of his career, we are pleased to welcome back Craig and Paul for the start of their half-season campaign in a Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. We know very well their ability and determination as they try to make a strong start to their season. As well as our regular World Rally Car drivers, we are giving a big chance to a really promising youngster, Oliver Solberg.

The proof is in the pudding , as they say , so if Mercedes still invest big bucks in developing the car then the rumours are nonsense but if funding becomes an issue both Red Bull and Ferrari will be there to take advantage . It will be interesting to see who fans of the Fantasy G.P. put their money on this year. Thank you Father Christmas ! This year may daughter treated me to metal model kits from a small company I had never heard of , South Eastern Finecrafts. This company produces die cast kits of racing cars in 24th. Scale with such a level of detail that you will need a magnifying glass to identify the smallest pieces some only a 1/10th. of an inch. The leaf springs and the lever arch shock absorbers together with the tiny dials on the dash board take ages to get right . Above is Enzo Ferrari’s first car the P3 Alfa Romeo Monza. The biggest challenge to Ferrari came from Prince Bira of Siam in his ERA.
