GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

1. There shall be an Annual General Meeting of the Members and Subscribers held not later than Easter. 2. There shall be a President, as many Vice Presidents as the Annual Meeting may decide, a Committee, a Secretary, Treasurer & Auditor. 3. The Committee shall be composed of one or more representatives from each Township in the area, elected at the Annual General Meeting. Five members to form a quorum. 4. Each Member of the Committee shall be responsible for the collecting of subscriptions in his Township. 5. All Annual Subscriptions shall become due on the 1st July. 6. Residents in all parishes, the whole or part of which lies within a 10 mile radius of Ripley Town Hall, are eligible to exhibit in the Local Classes. 7. Exhibitors in the Farmer’s Classes must be farmers who reside in the area or farm within it, such land being a portion of the holding on which they reside, and be principally dependent upon farming for their living. 8. All stock must have been the bona-fide property of the Exhibitor two months previous to the close of entries, except in the Open Classes, in which case the exhibits must be the bona- fide property of the Exhibitor on the day of the Show. All cattle must be Brucellosis Accredited, except Bullocks and Bulls, and Exhibitors will be required to produce proof of Accreditation. 9. If it be proved to the satisfaction of the Committee that any Competitor has attempted to impose on the Society by means of a false certificate or any other misrepresentation, or has willingly or knowingly violated any of the Rules of the Society, he shall henceforth be prohibited from exhibiting and, if a member, shall be expelled from the Society. 10. The Secretary or Committee shall not in any way disclose or make known to any person whatsoever, until the day of the Show, the names of the competitors for any prize. 11. The Committee reserve the right to cancel any Class where there are two or less entries, and also the right to refuse any entry without giving any reason. 12. The Committee reserve the right to alter or amend any Rule or Regulation, the right of interpretation in respect of any Rule or Regulation, or to withold any prize. 13. No alteration shall be made in the Rules unless notice has been given at the previous meeting of the Committee. 14. No person shall be allowed to enter the Showground without producing tickets. A ticket, not transferable, will be issued to Exhibitors whose entrance fees amount to £5.00. Tickets must be given up on entering the Show. 15. TERMS OF ENTRY. All entries must be made not less than 21 clear days before the date of the Show and must be accompanied by the appropriate Entrance Fees, and S.A.E. for return of Entry Form. The Secretary will not acknowledge receipt of entries but will forward list of Exhibitors’ numbers two days before the Show Day, If entering any animal in more than one Class, Exhibitors must be particular to specify. 16. Challenge Cups cannot be won outright unless definitely stated in the Schedule and must be returned to the Trophy Secretary by 1 July. Recipients to engrave trophies before returning. 17. All persons in charge of animals brought into the Show Yard will be subject to the Regulations and Orders of the Society’s Officials. All animals shall be in the care of a competent person whilst in the Show Yard and shall not be removed before 4.30 pm. None but the persons in charge of the stock will be admitted. 18. Persons exhibiting stock are required to accustom them to being haltered as they will be required to be led into the Yard before the Judges unless otherwise stated elsewhere in this Schedule.

19. All stock will be the owner’s risk. Numbers will be given to affix to their exhibit, corresponding with that placed on the Stand it is to occupy in the Show Yard.All Exhibits to be ready for judging FIFTEEN minutes before the time stated herein. 20. No entries can be accepted on the Showground except for Gymkhana, Fancy Dress, Jumping Classes, Sheep Dog Trials, Gun Dog Tests, Dog Agility & Companion Dog Show. 21. Only Judges & Officials of the Society are permitted in the marquees during judging. 22. In the interests of safety and other visitors, dogs are not allowed in the marquees. 23. All exhibits in Horticulture must have been grown by the Exhibitor and have been in his possession for three months prior to the Show. Pot plants to be shown in final pots in which they have been grown. 24. All Horticulture & Produce exhibits must be removed from the marquees by 6 pm. Or they will be disposed of by the Society. 25. Exhibitors must provide their own vases & containers. 26. The Society accepts no responsibility for plates, vases, produce, or other articles left by Exhibitors after the Show. 27. Results will, subject to availability be published in local newspapers unless the exhibitor explicitly requests in writing not to do so.

RIPLEY AGRICULTURAL AND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY is not responsible for any damage to property or injury to persons arising out of any activity carried out on the showground on the day of the show. Any person entering or bringing any property on to the ground on the show day does so entirely at his or her own risk.

The Society will not accept responsibility for any claim for damages or injury caused in any way whatsoever on the showground on the day of the show.

Exhibitors are reminded that it is their responsibility to insure against damage caused by their animals to persons or property. The Society will not be responsible for correct classification of exhibits staged on or before the day of the show

Add beaten egg into flour and soaked dried fruit and mix well. Grease a 2lb loaf tin and line the base. Place mixture in tin and bake for 1 1/2 hours 160C/325F Gas mark 3. Always use hot tea so that the sugar dissolves.

All vegetables must be displayed for effect. The vegetables must be displayed within an area measuring 45cm by 60cm (18”x 24”) without bending any part of them. No part of any exhibit may exceed the size of the tray. A tray or board measuring 45cm X 60cm (18” x 24”) can be used to display vegetables, or the area marked on the staging. Where a tray has a lip or edge, it is the internal measurements that must not exceed (18” x 24”). A black cloth is permitted or the tray painted. Parsley is allowed for garnishing, but no other foliage or accessories, such as plates, sand, rings and so on will be allowed. Onion tops may be tied or whipped using raffia or string

Class 563 TOP VASE Top Vase class is for a vase of mixed flowering stems containing a total of between 5 and 10 stems, taken from a minimum of 2 different kinds of plants. Please note that is 2 different KINDS of plant, 2 varieties of the same plant are NOT 2 kinds. The display will be judged out of a total of 35 points, split into: 25 points for the colour, form, condition, quality and freshness of the flowers on display, and 10 points for the overall presentation and effect of the flowers in the vase. The vase will be viewed from all directions. Judging of flowers should be to the normal rules used for other classes. Stems used in the display must be showing flowers only; no seed heads or berries will be allowed. The vase can be any shape and size and made from any material, but must be in proportion to the display. No marks are awarded for the vase itself. No accessories - such as bows and additional foliage will be allowed. Foliage, which is growing naturally from the flowering stem and still attached to that stem, is allowed. Packing material including florists’ foam to keep stems in place is allowed.
