Livestock Exhibitors Disease Control Obligations The health of all animals and people present during the Great Yorkshire Show (GYS) is of paramount importance to the organisers. As such, we would like to remind livestock exhibitors of their responsibilities with respect to the health of their animals. Only fit and healthy animals should be transported to the Show. Any clinical signs of disease, however mild, detected on farm must result in the affected animal(s) remaining at home and not travelling to the GYS. This is the cornerstone on which high levels of Biosecurity can be built at the Show. Once on the Showground, if any animals develop any signs of illness one of the Show Veterinarians should be alerted immediately. If we all ensure only healthy animals arrive at the GYS and if any animal becomes sick at the Show, prompt veterinary care is sought we minimise the risk of: • A Notifiable Disease Outbreak • Zoonotic Infections passing from livestock to people. • Endemic Veterinary Diseases spreading between pens/stalls. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. BEEF CATTLE: READ ME BEFORE YOU COMPLETE YOUR FORM Main Changes for 2021 Tuesday & Wednesday - Dairy Cattle & Commercial Beef Thursday & Friday - Pedigree Beef Entries – close date Tuesday 11 May 2021 – You can enter as many animals as you wish but can only bring animals for which you have booked a stall. This gives you flexibility at the point of leaving your farm to bring the animals that are looking their best. Entry Substitutions – Last date is 5pm Tuesday 18 May - Written/email/faxed instructions should be received by the Livestock & Entries Office before 5pm Tuesday 18 May. Always ask for confirmation that your instruction has been received. Entry Cancellation & Refunds – Last date for cancellations is 5pm Friday 18 June. The Cattle Stalling Plan - This plan is designed to ensure the timely, safe and most efficient movement of animals from the stalls to the showing rings. Anyone found to have moved cards may be subject to future restrictions. Age of Handlers - handlers in the breed classes MUST BE OVER 14 YEARS OF AGE. Handlers in the young handler classes must be supervised by an experienced adult handler who is able to restrain/control the animal in an emergency – see Reg. 64 Cattle Parade - Exhibitors who parade their prizewinning animals in the cattle parades on Wednesday and Friday of Show will have the chance of winning CASH PRIZES of 1st prize £100 & a 2nd prize of £50 Clipping Crates - Clipping Crates will not be allowed in any of the sheds. The health of all animals and people present during the Great Yorkshire Show (GYS) is of paramount importance to the organisers.

If we all ensure only healthy animals arrive at the GYS and if any animal becomes sick at the Show, prompt veterinary care is sought we minimise the risk of;

• A Notifiable Disease Outbreak • Zoonotic Infections passing from livestock to people. • Endemic Veterinary Diseases spreading between pens/stalls.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. COVID‐19 Measures

The Event Safety Officer is the designated COVID‐19 Officer for the Show and will be assisted in this role by Society staff, Stewards and other contracted security and medical staff.

The Show will adhere to and have in place any Government safety and/or preventative measures during the build up to, and when the Show is open to the public. These may include: ‐

• Social distancing. • Advisory safety signage. • The provision of hand sanitising stations. • Provision of face masks. • Controlled and limited access to enclosed areas. • One‐way routes around the Showground.

If you are feeling unwell before you commence work, please stay at home and do not come to work. If you feel unwell whilst you are working at the Show, stop work immediately and go straight to the Medical Centre on the Showground.

The Society has prepared a separate document “YAS Statement of Intent for 2021 Great Yorkshire Show” which outlines in greater detail the Society’s response to COVID‐19 preventative measures at the Show.
