It is mandatory that all other horses/ponies/donkeys must have received a booster within the 6 calendar months of their entry on to the showground. Passports must be inspected before any stabling can be allocated (if previously booked). Exhibitor numbers will also be available for collection at this point. x Equine Welfare (Reg. 77)

Welfare is of paramount importance and all riders should be of an appropriate size and weight for the horse/pony being ridden (anywhere on the showground, exercise areas or vehicle parks, day or night). The Society reserves the right to take further action (See Disqualifications, Sanctions and Exclusion Orders) against any competitor or exhibitor whose animal is being ridden (anywhere on the showground, exercise areas or vehicle parks, day or night) by anyone whose size or weight compromises the welfare of the horse/pony being ridden; this would be based on the recommendations of the on-site veterinary team, who will use the 20% ratio as a guideline (this means the combined weight of rider plus their saddle should be less than 20% of the animal’s weight). This would be based on a relatively fit, healthy animal, as an overweight animal is also a welfare concern.

This rule has been enhanced in the interests of probity in relation to the following classes:

Animals in classes 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 132 ,133, 134, 135, can only be ridden at all times by the child that is entered to ride it in the class. A substitute rider may ride the animal outside of the ring, but they must be eligible in age to compete in the class entered. For example: Class 118 FIRST RIDDEN - states "Suitable to be ridden by a child who has not attained their 10th birthday by 1st January in the current year". Therefore, the age of the rider applies to the rider in the ring or anywhere on the showground, exercise areas or vehicle parks, at all times up to the relevant class.

Where an animal is entered in multiple classes, the respective restrictions apply up to the conclusion of each class and thereafter immediately pass to those regulations associated with the next class; at all times the general rule about riders needing to be appropriately sized to their mount, is applicable. x DISPLAYING CATALOGUE NUMBERS (Reg. 78) All riders/handlers MUST display their animal's catalogue number at all times when riding or working their animal anywhere on the showground, exercise areas or vehicle parks, day or night. x GROOM’S DRESS CODE (Reg. 66) Grooms/attendants appearing with animals in the judging rings must have suitable footwear and be dressed appropriately, i.e. of smart appearance (NO JEANS/SHORTS/MINI SKIRTS). HATS MUST BE WORN IN THE RINGS e.g. Trilby type or riding hats are acceptable (NO BASEBALL TYPE HATS/CAPS). Any person not complying with this regulation may be asked to leave the ring by the Steward or the Judge. x DATA PROTECTION The Yorkshire Agricultural Society will hold your personal information on its’ database for the purpose of operating the Show. x HOYS NUMBERS: If entering a HOYS qualifying class, you must include ALL the relevant HOYS ID Numbers (i.e. owner/exhibitor, animal, rider, Agent) and postcodes, on the form so that your entry can be processed. The Event Safety Officer is the designated COVID‐19 Officer for the Show and will be assisted in this role by Society staff, Stewards and other contracted security and medical staff.

The Show will adhere to and have in place any Government safety and/or preventative measures during the build up to, and when the Show is open to the public. These may include: ‐

• Social distancing. • Advisory safety signage. • The provision of hand sanitising stations. • Provision of face masks. • Controlled and limited access to enclosed areas. • One‐way routes around the Showground.

If you are feeling unwell before you commence work, please stay at home and do not come to work. If you feel unwell whilst you are working at the Show, stop work immediately and go straight to the Medical Centre on the Showground.

The Society has prepared a separate document “YAS Statement of Intent for 2021 Great Yorkshire Show” which outlines in greater detail the Society’s response to COVID‐19 preventative measures at the Show.
