INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF NORWAY Oslo Chamber of Commerce WEEKEND SUGGESTIONS Week 8 HI EVERYBODY! The days are getting longer and brighter, and we are fast approaching March. During this month the length of each day is approximately 5.5 minutes longer for each day that passes! These are our suggestions for you this weekend: Photo: pixabay.com USEFUL INFORMATION Kindergarten Application Deadline If you need a kindergarten place for you child from August, do not forget: March 1st is the deadline for applications to be accepted for the main intake. This is the case whether you are applying for the first time or if you want to change kindergarten. The kindergarten situation can sometimes be challenging and it may be harder to get a place if you apply after this date. For more information contact the local kindergarten office in your municipality. Leave the Car at Home It has become more expensive to park in Oslo. Parking charges for public parking now apply Monday – Saturday until 20.00 hrs. Tariffs have also increased 50% in the red zones and 20% in the remaining areas (yellow, blue and green). This is one of the measures implemented by the city government (byrådet) in 2016 to reduce traffic in Oslo. Oslo’s city government wants to ban private cars from the city centre by 2019 as part of a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
