The Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony takes place December 10 at 13.00 at Oslo City Hall and is the highlight of the programme. During the ceremony, this year’s laureate, the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet, will deliver their speech (attendance by invitation only). It is possible to watch the ceremony on a big screen inside the Nobel Peace Center although space is limited. There will be a traditional torchlight parade in the evening of December 10 in honour of the laureate, who greets the parade from the balcony at Grand Hotel at 19.00. The event starts at Jernbanetorget by Oslo Central Station at 17.30, before heading towards Grand Hotel at 18.15. Photo: nobelpeaceprizeconcert.org The day after the award ceremony, the Peace Prize Concert rounds off proceedings, with Norwegian and international artists performing in honour of the laureate. This year’s concert, hosted by Jay Leno, will be held on Friday, December 11 at 19:30 at Telenor Arena with a-ha, Aurora Aksnes, Jason Derulo, Kygo, Emel Mathlouthi and MØ as invited artists. The concert will be broadcast live on NRK1. INN MEMBER EVENTS Pre-Christmas Get-Together, December 10 at 17.30 As the festive season approaches, we would like to share some Norwegian Christmas traditions. A special time of year filled with events and activities focused on the celebration of Christmas on 24th December. Hear about Christmas in Norway: the traditions and songs, the food and drink. Try your hand at decorating “pepperkaker ” (Gingerbread biscuits) and sample a delicious Christmas drink, “gløgg”. Registration for this event is now closed. UPCOMING EVENTS Rihanna to Oslo Rihanna is heading to Telenor Arena on July 2, and The Weeknd and Big Sean will be joining her. Rihanna needs no introduction, but it is worth mentioning that she is the youngest artist to have had thirteen number one hits in the US. The concert in Norway is part of the Anti World Tour, and will surely include material from her new album, Anti. In Telenor Arena she will be joined by The Weeknd, one of the world’s hottest artists thanks to the singles “Earned It”, “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face”. Rapper Big Sean will also be there, so the stage is set for a fantastic summer concert in Telenor Arena. Tickets will go on sale here December 11 at 09.00. He is also the first artist to sell out Dublin’s Olympia Theatre before even releasing a studio album. With composition, voice and electronics, she has created a unique musical position for herself. She has collaborated with some of the best improvisers in the world, and is currently on tour with one of Europe’s most interesting and innovative band, SAKA. The programme consists of both classical and modern Christmas favourites, along with works from the European men’s choir tradition. This year’s performers are Tor Endresen, Maria Haukaas Mittet, Marian Aas Hansen, Alexander Rybak and Rune Larsen. The quintet will perform a mix of traditional Christmas carols and classic psalms, accompanied by musicians Øystein Lund Olafsen and Olav Torget. The band is known for its development of young, talented musicians and their extensive collaboration with leading national and international jazz musicians. The band’s 2015 Christmas concert features a handful of Frank Sinatra’s best Christmas songs. Vocalist is Ingar Kristiansen, an experienced crooner and Sinatra interpreter. The crew tells the stories about the world’s creation, gods, giants, brotherhood, great battles and finally the end of the world - ragnarrok. Norr offers acrobatics at an extremely high level, and enchanting set designs, special effects and costumes.
