The concession contract includes design, executive project development, cons- truction and operation and maintenance. It consists of a stretch of a urban toll motorway which will close Tijuana’s Ring- Road. It has a total length of 5 km, with dual carriageway and runs along an important viaduct, connecting Tijuana Binational Airport to the residential and touristic area of Tijuana Beaches, crossing at high level the international border pass of San Ysidro. This border pass is currently the most used land crossing in the world. This new infrastructure is fundamental for Tijuana and marks a before and after for the city, as it will benefit, at least, 25,000 users daily, by reducing their journey Mexico time from 40 to 4 minutes. Investment: €74 M Period: 27 years Electronic Toll Collection System Equipment and management of toll collec- tion in 3,800 km of motorways The consortium comprised of Cointer Con- cesiones, IAMSA and ingeniería Integra, was awarded the contract for the equipping and handling of automated payment in 3,800 km. for the roadways network managed by Capu- fe, (Federal Roadways and Bridges), a body dependant on the Secretariat for Communi- cations and Transport in Mexico, with 130 toll booths and 479 automated payment lanes. The contract consists of the provision of ser- vices for administration and handling of pay- ments, contracting of users, commercialisa- tion and supply of tags (user ID card), as well Mexico as the administration of communications an- Investment: €140 M tennae for payment stations. Michoacán Road Package The largest roadway project being undertaken by Cointer is known as the “Michoacán Road Package”. This is a concession contract, for a period of 30 years, to develop the construction, modernisation, conservation and development of a series of sections forming the toll motorway between Pátzcuaro-Uruapan-Lázaro Cárdenas, in the state of Michoacán, in Mexico. The length of the motorway project contained in the tender is 361.4 km, of which 273.2 km are existing roadways and the rest, 89.2 km, form new roadways. At the present time, the complete section between Patzcuaro-Uruapan-Lázaro Cárdenas is operational and the Morelia bypass, with a total of 8 toll booths and 55 payment lanes. AP-41, Madrid-Toledo Toll Motorway Contract for the construction, maintenance and ope- ration for a period of 36 years of the AP-41 Madrid-To- ledo motorway and Castilla-La Mancha A-40 highway. Stretch: North of Toledo ring road. The motorway AP-41 Madrid-Toledo stretch is a part of the corridor (Madrid-Toledo-Ciudad Real-Córdoba) con- necting to the south of Spain and is 57 km in length. It is to be highlighted the construction of 10 viaducts, 48 flyo- vers and 34 underpasses. The North Toledo ring road stretch of the A-40 highway is a part of the Castilla-La Mancha highway and runs through the Maqueda-Toledo-Ocaña-Tarancón-Cuenca axis. It has a total length of approximately 18 km. It has been constructed 5 links, 3 viaducts, 15 flyovers and 23 underpasses. Highlighted data: 9 Toll booths: 8 9 Payment lanes: 47 Spain 9 Concessionaire’s employees: 74 Investment: €360 M Period: 36 years Railway Operators Cointer holds a 25-year contract with UPM, which marks a new era for rail transport in Uruguay Rail Freight In October 2020, a consortium led by Cointer signed a contract with the Finnish multinational UPM Kymmene to operate the transport of 3 million tons per year of cellulose pulp and the chemical products necessary for its production, through 12 daily trains between the 273 km connecting the new UPM plant in Paso de los Toros and the port of Montevideo. The contract will last 25 years and will require investments close to € 100 million. Los Andes Dry Port Los Andes Terrestrial Port (Puerto Terrestre de Los Andes-PTLA) is a logistic centre in Chile with a cus- toms office that is destined to public and private transport services, load storage and control of im- ported and exported goods. Los Andes Terrestrial Port is the main service centre for ground transportation in the Southern Cone, since 80% of the country’s trade transported in this way is done through its customs office. It is located in an area of 24.52 hectares in the Quin- ta Región, in the north of Chile, 6 kilometres far away from Los Andes City and 60 kilometres from Santiago.
